Heynckes today in the press conference said that he will start to rotate as soon the weeks with 2 matches start and that he wants first to settle his formation.

So it probably will be the A-team of the test matches - the starting formation of last week.

And with Robben it is the same case like with Gustavo, Pizarro, Gomez, Shaqiri (when asked after Robben... Robben has had an interview in Kicker this week in which he told that he accepts to sit on the bench one or two matches in "English" weeks but he would first need a couple of matches to come into playing practice...)

Heynckes told that the only reason why Boateng will probably still sit on the bench is that van Buyten needs to have playing practice for the Arsenal match.

Gomez with ankle niggles and Mandzu scoring 2ce last game? Not that much of a reach. Hope Gomz gets some minutes soon though.

So much that he played a 90 minute friendly a day after the last Bundesliga match?

So he is starting because he works hard? :p Oh goody, can we buy Grosskreutz to replace Ribery before the end of January, he works a bit harder than him as well.

It's pretty comical that LvG after Gomez's rise may value him more than the old fart. Is there a way Pep can and replace Heynckes by the end of the month? :D

No, he's starting because Super Mario 1 is not yet in match shape to track back on defense as much as Heynckes would prefer.

Well if he isn't now, I don't see how he will be by staying in the bench. He needs playing time to get fitter. His first game was November 20th, over 2 months ago. He started training since October, over 3 months ago. I wonder if people would be saying the same thing if Ribery was in Gomez's place. :D

    Not buying it all.

Anyway I guess Boateng will play and not van Buyten, and Müller 4 Robben with Kroos false number 10......;)

You're right, silly me. It couldn't be anything as complex as complications with his recovery, it has to be something simple, like a vast conspiracy theory.

Martin Luther King Jr has a dream. Now Fernando? ;)

Guys, just for one thread and one thread only... could we PLEASE give the Gomez speak a rest!!!
FFS, it is the most tiresome argument on this forum. The dude is money, we know he is the #1, but clearly the coach is being patient - if not overly patient - with him.

    Moving on...

Due to Bayer04 slip up and BVB's impressive form, a full 3 points would be glorious today.
I don't trust playing in Stuttgart however; I can remember a certain striker that shall not be named (see my first paragraph) that wounded us several times on that turf!

So Jupp is basically saying with this lineup - "I want to put out a first eleven that defend as a unit with pace"

    This is my interpretation.

With points gained by BVB, and an opportunity to gain on Bayer04, why not?
You are on the road in a hostile environment playing the Bavaria-Schwabia derby and need the points...

...so prolong or prevent the opposition from scoring for a long as possible, before you bring in the quality (Gomez, Robben, Shaqiri) to finish off the opponent at the death.

Sound tactics. Let's hope it plays out that way.
BTW, rotation what? LOL. Isn't this the same lineup as last week? :)

EQ is a keeper. Just sayin.

Eiss would have been more appropriate on the bench! ;)
