Guvenisik > Schoenfeld. Offer this guy a contract.

Edit: Just looked him up and found out he's 32. I thought we were moving away from anyone over 30?

He'd probably be close to league minimum if we sign him

    today's starting lineup:

    Gruenebaum
    Barson Marshall Williams Wahl
    Gaven George Tchani Speas
    Higuain Finley

That's not too far off from a logical opening day lineup on March 2. Should I get my hopes up for seeing Williams in the middle?

    second half lineup:

    Lampson
    Matte Gehrig Beckie Hyland
Finlay Trapp Witkowski (Sloan 85) Meram
Guvenisik (Bascom 85) Schoenfeld (Brettschneider 67)

Glauber and Arrieta are away from the team right now, and It appears DOR didn't play

    I'd estimate

    Gruenebaum
    Barson, Marshall, Glauber, Williams
    O'Rourke
    Gaven Speas
    Higuain
    Arrieta Finley

Also, if we get Sanchez, he would likely take O' Rourke's Holding/Defensive Midfielder spot

Finley won't start. We'll have another midfielder centrally over a second forward. I'd like to see Barson in the lineup but I'd rather have Williams at RB and Wahl at LB.

According to today's match article on the Crew's website, Wednesday's match against Chicago starts at 11 am.

This is what I expect as well, I don't know what leads people to believe we're going to play Higuain as an AM wih two forwards. When they drafted Finley they even said he was backup for when Arrieta is away. No we will play the Guillermo formation again this year; Speas will play the Rogers role, Arrieta will play the AleMo role, Gaven will reprise his role as Eddie Gaven and Higuain will play GBS. I'm mostly ok with that seeing as the odds of us doing anything else are pretty slim. The part that I'm more worried about are the obvious question marks; who plays Brian Carroll and who plays Brad Evans? Face it for all the rebuilding we've done we're still trying to put together the 2008 team with new faces excepting Gaven.

If we don't sign a CM before long, we're starting the season with Tchani as our Brad Evans. And pending we sign this Sanchez character, he'll be Brian Carroll. If not, we have George. We can defend well and attack well, but there's no way we're holding possession in the middle.

And wasn't there some quote from RW that said something like GBS didn't play the style RW wanted to play?

Interestingly, I was in Hallmark at Polaris today picking up a Valentines card from Mrs. KG (and was wearing my Crew jacket) and was asked by not one but two of the clerks if I was going to the Urso game in NC--as they knew a bunch of folks who were going. The team *is* making inroads in the community.

Only to have it waved off because the goalie was off the line... wait, what?

George is great at holding possession in the middle. The guy rarely turns the ball over. Going forward is where he struggles.

The scary thing is going to be trusting Tchani to play consistent defense.

I think you can pretty much pencil Tchani into the Brad Evan's role unless we sign someone else and that includes Sanchez. I'm not saying these guys are as good as Carroll but you look at our CMs and many of them are better suited for that role; Danny, Kevan, I think Trapp could do an admirable job at either but it looks like he lined up in the Carroll spot the first game. Of the other guys that we have in camp who is going to beat out Tchani? Sloan or Witkowski dare I say Warzycha? I don't think Tchani has a lot of competition for that Evans spot.

Oh and are we just assuming that Danny is hurt again at this point?
