So personal problems are going to keep you out for the foreseeable future? This reeks of it being something that could be fixed, but he is being stubborn. Be a man, either suck it up and resolve your problem or say you won't play for the NT. Its that simple, this BS about maybe maybe not is child's play.

Fk him... no one is bigger than the unit... que se quede como el perro sin torta... watching Mexico left yet another trophy without him (Gold Cup 2011, Olympics... now Confederations & the big one)... Germany & Italy's history dictates that you don't have to have the most talented players to lift the cup.... a solid defense, tactics, discipline, absolute mental toughness, a bit of luck & a great poacher has won most World Cups (see 1950)... Fk yeah... Mexico to be the Uruguay of 1950.

Tecatito to come out of obscurity & pull a 1958 Pele performance on the left wing next year... Vela sitting on the couch with Griezmann pulling his hair saying... that could have been me amour :D

Nery said some shit and in the end still got the call-up and he's even got a cult operating out BSMX. All I'm saying is, it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be and people don't care as much as you want to make it seem. Will there be those that say "Fuk Vela he shouldn't get called again because no one should turn down the NT."? Yeah. But there are way more people who think on a more practical level.... and say "You know what.... Vela isn't using the NT... we're using him to get results."

First of all, hable bien, ********. Second, motivos personales? Well, what are they? Memo has a legitimate excuse, and didn't brush it off saying that he will say what they are someday. Did a family member pass away? No. Is he ill? No. Is he injured? No. Aparte de diva, mentiroso el tio.

I say we close this thread until he accepts a call up or else he will be taking us on an emotional rollercoaster, until then he is a free agent when it comes to a national team

Except Nery shit was ALL the press. That is why people actually cheered when he went on that game. People saw it for what it was, one of those shit reporters picking a fight with him and the press crying like bitches when he responded. Vela is snubbing the NT and people feel it way more. The people are actually madder than him and have been for a while. I was in Mexico for the olympics, they didn't like it at all because the olympics is overvalued in Mexico. Now he snubs it again and it's a cements the already negative opinion people have on him in Mexico. It's not the same at all.

No matter what happens, its nice to know that one player doesnt make or break El Tri. Unfortunately his playing style would fit in perfectly between Gio and Cheech up top. One thing this situation shows is Vela's fragile psyche. Mexico no longer has the need to put up with this like before( Cuah,Rafa, etc). Hot heads that would lose their cool and cause the team to 'panic.' The new generation has a winning mentality, too bad Vela hasnt caught up.

    No.

For those of you who are disappointed and think it was the wrong move and no longer care about him, you can simply unsubscribe from the thread.

Given the circumstances, the discussion as warranted so feel free to contribute with intelligent, reasoned discourse.

In other words, no more "fack Vela" or similar posts...

    Thanks fellas!

Obviously, this is pure speculation, but his emotional state and choice of words made me wonder...

But, if it were true and he has reservations about the potentially homophobic atmosphere within the national team locker room, wouldn't that be a legitimate reason to turn down the call-up?

Again, it is nothing but speculation and it certainly doesn't conform to the standards of parsimony required by occam's razor, just sayin'...

It's about the only legitimate excuse he could have. Little else would be forgivable.

And, cue the Vela apologist accusations.

If he doesn't want us then we don't want him. We have accomplished so much recently without Vela. No beef with him, let him do him.

    this

Vela would be an excellent addition to the team for sure. but under Chepo, we have done fine without him.

Alot of you guys come out and say that Vela sucks and the NT doesn't need him to win games. Than you guys get all mad when he gets called up and declines, Why? You guys don't need him remember???
lets look at the bigger picture, What would make more headlines?
Mexico beating Jamaica? or Real Sociedad earning a Euro spot?
I think a Europa spot will help Vela solidify himself as a legit player and might possibly open up doors for him. Vela and Gio are my favorite mexican players and i will always make sure to support them club or NT 100%

Who cares if he denied the call up? LOL@ everyone acting like jilted lovers...that's life...as long as he's doing what he feels is best for him more power to him.
I still ain't going to sit through a dreadful mid-table Liga game...I'll just read about his performances here and watch links to highlights.
