I knew it! Beside the announcement of Toni and Gattuso, they are going to rename the stadium Rio Tinto Stadio degli Alpi and our new jersey sponsor is going to be Xango/Fiat! Anyway, I wonder what the commish has to do with all this. Has to be something that would be MLS wide. I got it! The All-Star game is going back to Rio Tinto which is better than awarding the MLS franchise to Hooper, Utah.

The Gold Cup wouldn't really do that unless there was someone here from USSF. Maybe it has something to do with the reserve league announcement. RSL is going to sponsor a USL-Pro team in Sandy, Utah and call them the Utah Highlanders!
Maybe we will be adding a NWSL team in the future, I can make these wild uninformative guesses all day folks. Or at least a few more hours.

Depends on what other events are scheduled to be going on under my coat. FYI I'm not going...I'll be listening to the radio with bated breath just like the rest of you. But you can probably go on your own if you want - I didn't see where it said it's limited to media only, and I doubt they're checking ID's at the door. On a related note: I'm positive this isn't stadium expansion-related. I spoke with a team official on this exact subject at media day. There are some metrics that have to be reached - and maintained for multiple years - before expansion will happen. We're not quite there yet.

Why would it be about the Gold Cup if they have both the big announcement headline AND the Gold Cup Headline already side by side on the Web Site? Could just be a formality but that seems quite anti-climactic. Why didn't they wait until now to announce it if the Don was coming. Maybe Dave is selling to Dell Loy?
