Welp, we've signed someone. Sounds like he has a good history, but the FO smoke-blowing capabilities could be fooling me. Anyone more familiar: http://www.thecrew.com/news/2013/01/crew-signs-brazilian-defender-glauber
Seeing he played in Germany for a while, I bet we get more info than you ever wanted. That said, I'm more interested why he was a cult hero at Citeh. (Source Twitter)
Excited about Glauber, but still concerned about left back... No mention here or the previous article. :-/
Google is useful. And yes, I'm quoting myself. Only at Citeh.... "his consistent performances as a non-playing substitute began to gain him true cult status" www.wsc.co.uk/wsc-daily/1031-Local-hero/8402-glauber-berti-manchester-city-legend
Well shut my mouth. As of right now it looks like a good signing. If the Matías Sánchez signing is also true, the Crew will have a South American spine with American ribs. Ummm ribs. What was I saying . . .
Although Brazil are not really renowned for their defense - he is part italian apparently. Can't argue with his resume, slight concern over the number of appearances though
So Williams at RB and Wahl at LB, I'm still not sold that Robert will be happy with Wahl as his LB but that seems like our defense right now. I'm actually even less sold on our CMs at the moment though; Danny and Tchani are our likely starters let's get Sanchez in.
I know nothing about this guy but I already love him. We should sign as many Man City "legends" as we can.
I actually think this signing could help increase the club's profile. If he really is as big a Man City icon as he seems to be, we should gain a larger following of Man City fans who want to follow his career. Hopefully he is as talented as someone who is in the top 18 players of Man City should be...
If we are gonna go all ga-ga over a Man$hitty cult hero, why not sign Michael Johnson as well, despite being about 50 lbs overweight when he is probably better than most of the Crew
Read the link NUFC Fan found, he's an Icon for not playing in the way Jacob Thomas was a legend for us for being injured. They love him in a mocking way not in adoration.
I did read it, and I understand how he was an icon, but it doesn't mean that they won't want to still follow him.
Ok, I just think this is the type of player a teams fans chuckle about for a second when brought up but then move on. Man City fans aren't going to become Crew fans because of this guy, this isn't GBS and Boca. While that is hyperbole the point is the way the fans feel about him isn't even the same kind of following even if to a lesser degree. That said this guy should clearly be good at the MLS level and I hope he and Chad own the box and it's really hard to score on us. I hope Williams is ready to play RB I think he'll do better on that side than the left and he did fine on the left so we have three spots well manned. The LB spot concerns me but we'll see how it goes.
Well, we are generally going to get players with flaws in MLS. But the age is right and his experience is not bad. So, we shall see. Cautiously optimistic on this one. Hopefully his English is decent enough, as he played there for a bit. This is a legit replacement for Miranda, though.
I like the signing. It is definitely a move in the right direction. I like the fact that he actually played for teams that are more commonly known and not some obscure third rate club. I also like that he isn't in his mid-thirties already. The Crew can hopefully get a good number of productive years out of him on the pitch.
He doesn't seem to be an aerial threat, having scored 3 goals in his career. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, he can sit back while Williams and Marshall move up for free kicks/corners.
