Did they also degrade the two world cups, a second place and a third place appearance during those 40 years? If so, that is pathetic.

The Italians don't play proper football. Boring, cowardly!

Man, u have missed a lot.

I was able to mock my English buds relentlessly after Chelsea won last year. They barely put up a fight.

All the things proper English clubs don't do, and never will!!!!!! They did.

They were rowdier in so, so, so, so many of England's heroic defeats.

    It was pretty funny.

Italy in euro 2012 had changed their style from a defensive one to a more offensive one. different team now than in 2006.

Your buds clearly don't debate very well. There was nothing of the defensive Italian systems of the past about Chelsea's CL campaign. They were closer to the systems used in Wimbledon and Coventry's 1980s FA Cup winning campaigns...

Of course they don't debate well...they are white collar English part time arrogant footsie snobs!!!

Stereotypes and football go hand in hand, and folks stick with'em no matter what is happening.

The fact that one of the richest clubs in the world had to resort to this was pretty funny.
They were very fortunate and very defensive overall.

That isn't glorious English attacking, have at'em football of the queen and Booby C!!!!

Who of course didn't really score to win the cup. they hate that also.

Not as funny as Barca and Bayern's finishing over the final two rounds.

It's hardly Chelsea's fault that their opponents choked in front of goal. Any mockery you might have of Chelsea is trumped by the fact they won the competition.

LOL. I live when nerves get struck. Strike one!

My mockery is in general English arrogance, delusion and the over rating of their players and national team over 4 decades.

Be proud of Chelsea. They set the example the English are going to have to follow if they want to win anything.

Defend like hell, don't open up...get some luck.

First time I ever heard Englishmen admit they are not that good. Reality only took decades worth of results.

OK. Saw Wahl interview with JK.

One thing that struck me was when JK said..."the way MLS has improved the last couple of years.:)"

Did JK really mean that, or did he just finally get it.

I'll stand by it until the end. This guy really didn't understand our actual pool, talent, our region or league very much when he started. Especially after making that one of his big selling points.

I know it's incendiary, but reading the politician speak he spouts out always make me chuckle.

Yup, it's only the last couple of years where MLS guys have shown they can help the Nats because it's improved so much in these "last couple of years".

    Funny.

Post in any pro anti JK style u want...I just think his auto politico answers are funny. Subtle, but funny and there...constantly. I just have way to much experience over the years in this stuff to not be amused.

While I tend to agree with the bolded part it's difficult to say with any certainty exactly what he meant by that comment.

I personally think that MLS has gotten much better much faster in the past 2-4 years. Before that it seemed like a much slower improvement process. It's possible that this is what JK was saying.

Furthermore I think the reasons for that are multiple: More teams, more stadiums, more DP's/exposure, more money, expanded rosters, initiatives in youth development, salary cap increases, rise of the Champions League, etc.

You know K...that is a very reasonable response. If I had not followed this guy, and his routine his entire career, I probably wouldn't be so cynical or read into it like that.

However, it is JK and I can't help myself. He just does this type of thing all of the time...and he is good at it.

Of course folks will assume that means I don't like him, hater, blah, blah, blah...no, I just love watching him in action. No different than the upper level management types I work with or politicians I have dealt with.

It's a skill, and he uses it to shift perceptions and the masses with ease and grace. Actually admire it.

Come on dude, stop ringing your own bell already with your profession. We get it. You're better than everyone. :p

Poor 'Woy plays the percentages and I love his ability to compete and sometimes win against more talented teams...that being said, he has lost the Europe championship match twice and now the match vs. Italy...I wish in those big matches he would have rolled the dice some more. Switched to an attacking 3-4-3 for portions of the match. Take the match to his opponent. That would be my only constructive comment about him. Americans who follow clint dempsey owe 'Woy a debt for helping turn him into a true international football professional. His decision making, defense and positional awareness grew by leaps and bounds under his management.

I'm a Hodgson fan. IMO he is the right type of manager for England's talent type...if they want to actually won something.

Ha, Donovan is giving Klinsmann the uninterested 'girlfriend' treatment. I don't know how most people feel, but that is showing an awful lot of patience by Klinsie. I don't know that I would ever speak to Donovan again after that, but he's the coach.

yeah, I agree completely, I just think for the big matches he needs to show something unexpected for a period.

Donovan has been our Messi and doesn't have a history of malcontent. JK is doing the right thing.

Of course I'm better than everyone. Doesn't anyone who posts on net forums consider themselves better than anyone else who posts here?:)

My point, is to have folks, kids, extremists, try to look at things from a different pespective.

Of course I play both sides and keep my options open. It's what u need to do in order to be successful for a long period of time.

    ???

It's not like Donovan is has been hiding anything about his career concerns; he's been talking about his inner turmoil (or whatever you want to call it) for months. Nor is Donovan only keeping Klinsi in the dark, while still secretly dating someone else. Bruce Arena was asked about Donovan yesterday at the MLS Draft and was equally unsure of what was going to happen.

Sure, we may find out in the end that LD was playing mind games with only Klinsi, fooling him by playing "uninterested girlfriend" games. But more likely it's just Landon being Landon, and honestly dealing with personal issues. He's done it before with the whole Leverkusen saga and the will-he-or-won't-he sign with Everton thing. The odds are that this has nothing to do with some personality clash between JK and LD. It's not some High School girls personality who-is-or-isn't-talking-to-whom drama. It's most likely just about LD. Klinsi is giving Donovan the same time to decide as Arena is; nothing extraordinary.

And I would say that JK has done perfectly the correct things with Donovan. Entirely and exactly appropriate.
