BTW, I LOVE this move. If you know who you want, get him. Don't hem and haw about it.

    Too positive? ;)

Completely agree. Fantastic move by the Rev FO to get ahead and allow us to get our guy. This is a proactive move that I've come to not expect from this franchise. Love it.

Can't see us doing this for anyone but Farrell. But, where we he play?

Not thrilled at the prospect of adding another young center back into the mix but they had a ton of allocation money so it's not really a big risk to take the top talent on the board.

Who do Revs take No. 1? I would bet on Farrell. Had one well-respected MLS coach tell me last night Farrell's best player in draft in years

    Ives Galarcep@SoccerByIves
Would project that about 70% of MLS teams would take Farrell No. 1, 20% would take Zimmerman. 5% Bekker. And then there's Chivas USA.

OK, the euphoria has worn off. Now I feel a little like Charlie Brown lining up a field goal with Lucy. I sure hope Burns doesn't have some crazy idea up his sleeve.

Personally, I'm thanking him for making the Revs feel bad. ;)

Is it even possible that it could be anyone else?

    That would give us:
Farrell - McCarthy or Soares - Goncalves - Alston (Barnes, Polak, Tierney)
    or
    Alston - 2 of Farrell/McCarthy/Soares - Gonsalves
    or
    Farrell - McCarthy - Soares - Goncalves

There are so many permutations, it's pointless to list them all. I suppose that's meaningful depth.

If they draft some unknown, somebody who's rumored to be off to Eintracht Frankfurt next year, or someone who's been injured, I'm going to step in front of a bus.

Had a feeling this might happen.

What a shock. An organization run by Mike Burns and Jay Heaps trades up to use the first pick in the draft on... a right back. :)

I like it, though I'd probably play Rowe in the middle next to Toja with Nguyen on the left and Sene on the right.

Rowe hasn't convinced me he has the pace to play on the wing, I think he'd do better centrally.

If it's Farrell, he needs to be in the middle of the field. Hopefully at CB. He is too good, strong and fast to push wide.

Maybe he will replace one of the crappy defenders that you keep telling us are good...even though the Revs are trying to replace them.

I'd say I'm 70% sure this move was done with a view toward a
    Alston --- Goncalves --- Soares --- Farrell
    backline.
Not sure it will work out.

So very cool. Wouldn't completely rule out Zimmerman until we get firm confirmation that it's Farrell. Nice to see the team go hard after someone. Kind of shocking to see them trade away money. They love that guy. He's money.
