Boy am I ever ambivalent about Boyd. On the one hand, I have to think his finish rate would be so much higher when he gets on the receiving end of Davis, Boniek, Ashe, and Sarkodie crosses. On the other hand, he doesn't hustle and Kinnear wants forwards who hustle back to play defense. Also, $1.5M. When you throw it all together, the signs point to BAD BUY.

that was my conclusion too but I let my mind wander-it would be nice to have an actual finisher somewhat in his prime again.

I don't really consider Will a true finisher. He's kinda like the swiss army knife of strikers. Target guy, can play outside in the 4-4-3 if needed, he's a poacher, and has shown that he's not bad setting up opportunities for other guys, even defends well when needed.

Boyd-I think he's a one trick guy. He just shoots and scores.

I would agree with Cougar. Bruin to me is a true finisher. How many of his goals were one or two touches not too mention how many shots were on target. I don't see him as a great target guy yet and he may never be the guy to create his own chance on the ball.

doesn't it feel like we dodged a bullet?

yeah, i know with better service it could of been different in Houston but if i remember my MLS math we wouldn't of gotten OBG if we had Boyd. if that's the case, we won by not winning.

You likely are correct since we signed OBG prior to GC allocation money. Or rather, we may have been forced to trade someone to bring him in.

Camp Cupcake will be a good thing for Bruin. He should learn some things from JK, and staff that will help him develop his skills.

This right here, out of the three guys we have in the Camp he's the only one that can "vastly" improve. Hall and Davis can get a little better but I don't think any more than they are now.

I disagree. well with some of it. I agree Bruin can vastly improve. I agree Davis is likely close to what he is (which is damn good).

I disagree that Hall cannot get vastly better. Primarily in his distribution. He is a phenomenal shot stopper and is very athletic. But his distribution is horrendous at times. I think he can make huge jumps in that part of his game. Also, he can improve slightly on using his reaction instead of over anticipation. He gets caught flat footed on occasion because he over anticipates which at this stage in his life he doesn't need to do (at least as much) because he has the speed to react. It is a balancing act (react versus anticipate) in Goalkeeping and he can refine that approach a bit.

If he stops kicking the ball out of bounds on goal kicks, that would be an improvement.

He only does this to Kill time. Never actually seen him blow a kick in first 60 minutes

I agree that Tally can keep improving on his game. He is IMO an outstanding shot stopper, but I don't think he reads the game as good as an Onstad and IMO struggles when he comes off his line (notice in the CCL games that Deric really reacted well and got off his line when necessary). His distribution can be better as well. But still, who in MLS would you want in goal besides him?

No one. I just think there is still upside there.

I agree with this. It is a tactic to eat the clock up.

I know there are times when he's kicked it out on purpose but there's been way to many times he's done when it didn't benefit us at all to say it's always intentional.

All one need do is look to Dom after it happens. It is NOT a time wasting approach. Even if it were, it would be pretty poor given ball boys down the sidelines.

Even Premier League goalies "blow" it out of bounds so that right there is slightly irrelevant compared to the other good points you guys mentioned. He can improve and work on distribution and game reading just a little more to get better at it but he's already better in my opinion than Hamid and definitely Johnson. He has MLS experience and CCL experience. With all this said I still don't think he can "vastly" improve in this specific camp as Bruin will. Hall just needs tweaks but he's great.

We should raise money for a Dallas-area women's shelter in connection with trip to Frisco this year.

I think that's a terrible idea. Raise money and donate it but why involve the name of a guy who beat his wife? Even if it is an FCD guy.

    Great line in the article:

It would be awesome if they could have Baldomero Toledo or Terry Vaughn at sentencing.

But one article I read said that the wife was looney tunes and had made other claims before then retracted them.
