It's also possible that he rejects the transfer, sits on Inter's sidelines for the rest of the season, and then leaves on a free in the summer
What I like about this transfer window for Spurs is that the needs for the team do not feel dire. All of the discussion has the tone of 'it would be nice if'. The most pressing need, the more I look at all the discussions is for a more creative midfielder in the mould of a Modric or Moutinho. But, again, that doesn't feel like a dire need so much as a 'it would be really nice.'
I think a third striker is more than “really nice”. We’ve been incredibly fortunate so far, but as fatigue and injury start to take their toll I don’t relish going in to the final third of the season with only two strikers
Agreed. I've been having a recurring nightmare where Ade and Defoe get injured and Bale plays lone striker.
Willian is trying to force a move from Shaktar, hopefully this doesn't play out like Oscar where Chelski sweep in with a stupidly high bid. On brightside, a lot of talk today about us, Arse, Liverpool and Man Utd signing a letter to the Premier League calling for stricter financial fairplay rules, an anti-City and Chelsea move (and about time imo). Doubt anything too severe will pass, but there seems to be enough willing voters to get a compromise passed. i.e. fixed level of losses reducing over time a la UEFA.
Sneijder is stalling Galatasary b/c Turkish league sucks and he could do better. Liverpool and Spurs are apparently preparing bids for him... I don't see how either of us could match his wages but perhaps Rafa is talking to him telling him how badass Spurs are?
lets not forget that Dembele has played striker many times before and I feel is fully capable. we just need a creative mid to plug the gap
Remy goes to QPR and now there are rumors Harry is trying to get Kranjcar..Harry has gotten then best out of Niko so might not be a bad move..
Well I doubt that Gallas will be going anywhere now. Alderweireld was talked about, but I doubt he comes until summer, if at all. As for the midfield, Livermore can't go to QPR now, surely.
With Ade out at ACN we need a freaking striker too! Defoe hasn't been looking sharp and Dempsey wasn't yesterday either. His goal was great but with better finishing we should've walked away with 3 points and a 3-1 scoreline. 2 EASY simple shots shouldve went in
that would have been nice. i'd like to see him in the Prem anywhere. Well not in manchester anywhere...
Everyone keeps talking about this mythical "world-class striker." You can speak in generalities all you want, but the fact of the matter is, they aren't exactly easy to come by. It's not just a case of throwing money at a player so he'll play for us. When we were in the CL, we went after Luis Fabiano. Is he considered world class? I wouldn't say so. He had CL experience and had a decent goal ratio in Spain, but he never came. We do need a striker though, with Adebayor being in abysmal form, and Defoe out for the foreseeable future (allegedly). Though just buying a striker to buy a striker isn't exactly a good plan of action either. Hell, if that was the case, we could've kept Pav (I miss him, to be fair), or even went after Ba. Of the targets we've been linked with this window, who is world class? Damiao - Not yet, though he certainly has the skill set and potential to be. I'm of the opinion that if he wanted to play for us, we would've gotten him a year or so ago. He's not coming. Hooper - Would be a player similar to Defoe, in my mind. He could do a job from time to time, but I am skeptical about him being THE guy for us. Holt & Graham - Please. Negredo - Nope. Probably the best of this bunch considering fit for our system, but still inconsistent. If we do get a striker, I think it will be him. Huntelaar - No. Would be my choice, but he won't leave Schalke. Willian - I wouldn't consider him a striker, though I get why some would. Talk on him has been very hushed this window. His price is probably too high. It could come down to your definition of "world class," so for clarity's sake, I consider the top 10 players in the world at their position to be world class. Are we a top 10 worldwide club? Arguable. I would probably put us somewhere around the 10-15 range.
I would argue it really is just a case of throwing money at players, worked for City and PSG. We haven't signed these players b/c we don't throw stupid amount of money around.
Well when you have ridiculous amounts of money, I suppose that could be the case. A £20m striker who flops at Spurs would do significantly less damage to the finances at City and PSG.
