what kinda team dangles around their franchise player like that? while i KNOW we have the talent to compete - we just lacked the leadership. and the worst part is that it seems we're rebuilding not to become better, but to improve brand marketing. not to mention that all the high priced names seem to be the one's being shown the door. exchange these names for draft picks and you have a very wallet-friendly roster. i hope they're not thinking a guy like jose antonio rodriguez is the answer at GK.
Why not? The guy has capped on the youth international level various times, and I think he can be a future GK for the Mexico NT, might not be a bad idea to start this kid. While I hate to lose Dan Kennedy, I think he would be good to trade for at least one more first round SuperDraft pick.
Not sure about you guys but if Dan goes all be sad, but hey if it is for the best of my club then the Club is before any player ! I know the way Chelis is and trust me people would be talking about hem and Chivas USA way more than last year, I just hope we make the playoffs after that anything can happened
Dan Kennedy was our BEST player last year. He was the FACE of Chivas USA. He deserves a better run team than ours. (Well, that's just my opinion.) Dan Kennedy is more Chivas USA than Chelis/Vergara/David put together AND like Rey, he is not above the club. Sad to see all these damn changes happening all at once.
So?... Lose: -Kennedy -Jazic Acquire: -Alvarez -Lopez bag of soccer balls and cones added somewhere in this deal?
why not? because we're talking about DAN KENNEDY here. one of the best GKs in the league with experience, charisma, and leadership qualities. he's the face of the franchise and, if he was on a better-run organization, he could be the face of the league. trading him for a diminutive college kid so that we can give the keys to an unproven mexican youth product? i have my reservations about that. maybe im wrong. but i respect DK's game too much and respect DK as a person for everything he's given this club to treat him like a sack of potatoes. low blow.
I have to agree with Ekker. Dan is worth way more than a couple "promising" talents. Dan is tried and proven. Remember that game against the galaxy when Dan got in Donovan's face and Donovan turned around like "Dan whats up bro...it's me" and Dan told him to beat chanklas and get the funk out? Dan's straight up Raza. love that dude
I think most Chivas USA fans would hate to see Dan Kennedy go. In our history Chivas USA has been lucky enough to have top GKs (Guzan, Zack, Kennedy). I'm looking at allocation $$$ than a pick. Maybe Chivas USA needs $ to pay off Pearce's salary from last season.
Troopers, While you may be correct in your statement regarding DK, face of CUSA, leadership, etc., I believe that this is the time to move him. We could get a couple of 1st round picks or so. Unproven mexican product? If I recall correctly, Brad Guzan was also an unproven american product, yet he became a fine goalkeeper enough to be the second GK of the USMNT. He was beloved by everyone and still is, as DK will be should he leave. Your Commander.
Nothing's official yet, but there's nothing I can say to him but this: Bienvenido, hermano...Welcome, brother.
if Martin Zuniga wasnt injured to start that 2005 campaign, im pretty sure Brad Guzan doesnt get the start that opening day and, as a result, doesnt become the bad ass he is today.
Hmmm...Now why does that sound so familiar to the way Kennedy became the badass he is today? Had it not been for the departure of Brad Guzan to Aston Villa, Kennedy would also never have become the starting GK for Chivas USA either, therefore leaving him in mediocrity as well. You may bring up the year Zach Torta was our starting GK over Kennedy, but you must also take into account that Kennedy was injured for the majority of that season, while Thornton had one final amazing season with our beloved Goats. Bottomline, just as Guzan would not have become the GK he is today without the injury of "Pulpo", Kennedy would not have become the GK and face of our franchise without the departure of Guzan to Europe. I believe I have made my point.
Folks, our team hit rock bottom the second half of the season. EVERYONE is expendable at this point. I love Kennedy too, but we need to add youth and depth. We need competition at each position. NOBODY is bigger than the team. And remember, the more talent we add on defense, the less reliant we are on the GK.
We have had great coaches for goalkeeping, Pulpo Zuniga for a time, Zak Abdel, Leo Percovich, and now Daniel Gonzalez, unless he, like Llamosa, was fired as well.
I know fans of MLS hate the new philosophy of CUSA, and I'll be honest I'm still not too confident that it'll work for you guys. However, it is pretty cool to see players come out and openly declare that they want to play for a club. He seems like a great kid, and hopefully he can do some special things this season.
http://www.soccerbyives.net/2013/01/trade-rumors-beginning-to-swirl-as-mls-draft-approaches.html To bad JEFF LARENTOWICZ isn't somewhat Mexican. That dude is hell of a dangerous bad ass player i would love to see at Chivas USA.
