Here we have Kinsley Wentzky, (Columbia, SC) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/...erage-student_n_2424384.html#slide=more273232
I'm more fascinated by the Only-in-the-South name of "Kinsley Wentzky" She should be teacher of the year (ducks feminist ire)
A college girlfriend of mine lost her virginity while a high school junior to her 33 year old high school English teacher. Another girl I knew schtupped her 22 year old student teacher while in high school. I bet this stuff happens fairly often; it only hits the news on the rare occasion when it gets caught out.
You notice how it is the female techers that make the news, but not the men? CP, that is an insult to me as a teacher, first.
perhaps it has something to do with my being a heterosexual male, but I've never seen a "hot" male teacher. so I honestly don't think there's as much of that actually going on. I will say though that the stories that do make the news, the teacher is usually pretty easy on the eyes.
Two teachers and a principal at my alma mater married former students within a few years of graduation.Ick.
More than you even want to consider. My track coach married a girl a year ahead of me about a year out of HS, and the parents were on board. This was about 20 years ago, and they are still married. Good for them.
I can think of three occasions where it happened at my high school while I was there. My favorite was when one young (and extremely cute) teacher was caught going at it with a student in the classroom. And calling this an "assault" is just stupid, it's a freaking 17-year-old manchild, he knew exactly what he was doing. Yes she should lose her job, no she shouldn't be brought up on charges. Our rigid age-of-consent laws are stupid.

Yes, yes, and yes. She broke the rules, fire her, the same way you'd fire a university professor who against the rules slept with a student. And that's it, no need for headlines or a trial or a child-molester tag that will follow her around the rest of her life, so that her future neighbors can work themselves into a frenzy about how she'll abuse some local child.
One of the other occasions I mentioned from my high school was a girl with a male teacher (PE coach actually, not "hot" but a muscular little dude). She was expelled and he was fired. And the third I'm not sure if it was ever consummated while he was in school but when he went away to college she went with him. That one was really weird, she'd been his English teacher and was probably at minimum in her 40's. And he'd been a good friend of mine a few years earlier, but totally severed contact with everyone from our town and nobody ever saw him again.
I don't disagree about the age of consent point. But if she's his teacher, it adds another dimension to the situation. She's in a position of power over him. It's possible that they were simply mutually attracted, it happens. But it's also possible that she used her position of authority to harass and manipulate him. In these situations, there's an inclination to assume that adolescent young men always want sex. But that's pretty insulting to young men and a very dangerous way to think. Sexual assault against men and boys is rarely reported, and when reported it's usually treated dismissively, because of this weird belief that men aren't supposed to ever say no to sex. Think back to your high school teachers. How many of them would you have wanted to sleep with? A 34-year-old woman may look very cute to our perspective, but to a teenage student she might look quite different. But how cute she is is beside the point, because a sexual predator can be attractive. What matters is whether the alleged victim actually wanted to participate, or was pressured/coerced into participating. I'm sure the law on this varies from place to place, but I don't have a problem with erring toward criminalizing this sort of thing. Because when a teacher sleeps with a high schools student, even a 16 or 17 year old capable of giving consent, there is too much room for abusive behavior. It's also worth noting that this woman is being accused of sleeping with a second student. That moves the case into the realm of predator behavior.
There were rumors about a female teacher and a football player when I was in high school. When I was in junior high, a hot art teacher got caught having sex with a janitor in the art closet and was fired.
How sexist or ignorant would I sound if I said it may actually be worse in the case of an older male teacher? By that I mean, an older man and a teen age girl -- I think there are different physical and biological repercussions and power dynamics. I am NOT saying the scenario between an older woman and male student is ever OK. But I am wondering how completely regressive or chauvinistic it is to posit that the older male scenario is potentially much worse. I realize it is impossible to intelligently or justly legislate such a difference in statutory or punitive terms and I am not advocating that. I'm just kind of typing out loud. Because I have a daughter and I have a son. And without expending a whole lot of thought into it, one just seems infinitely worse. Again not advocating -- just throwing that up for comment and happy to be shouted into enlightenment.
I think men are perceived to be more dominating and predatory in our society, whereas women are perceived to be (and generally are) more caring an nurturing. so if it was an older male and a teenage girl, I do believe it would be seen as much worse.
The most scandalous thing that happened at my grammar school was the very obvious affair going on between the math teacher and the assistant pastor. He eventually left the priesthood and married her. Perhaps it was because I went to an all-girls private Dominican high school run by nuns that there were no student-teacher shenanigans of which I am aware.
Understood. My friends who have daughters freak out over who dates their daughters and if their daughters are fooling around, although when they were teenagers they thought teen-age sex was fine. President Obama sounds the same with his jokes about the boys should know that his daughters will be chaperoned by armed men on their dates. I don't share the view but I get it. It's the majority view alright.
True, I don't have enough information to say she definitely was not taking advantage of him. Better to say that I don't think it's a given that she should be prosecuted, depends on the situation. I suppose, but in my experience most did always want sex, at the very least theoretically, and many actually. I don't doubt that many senior high school boys would jump at the chance to have sex with a teacher that looked like that, and the possibility would've been a topic of conversation (and fantasy) whether or not it ever actually happened. Well, my algebra teacher for one, who was probably about that age if not older, had that cute/nerdy thing going on. And the woman that did get fired for having sex with a student, he was the envy of many afterward (although I always thought she seemed like a ditz). Yeah, she looks like a milf. I agree with that, but it should depend on the situation. I knew 16 and 17-year-old "boys" who were more mature than I was at 22. Maybe but not necessarily, again, depends on the attitude of the boys involved.
