Stock going up for many defenders in the draft: http://www.soccerbyives.net/2013/01/defenders-impressing-at-mls-combine.html

    CB's

    Farrell
    Zimmerman
    Zavaleta
    Tucker-Gagnes
    Opare
    Muller
    Schoenle

    Fullbacks

    Kindle
    Smith

guaranteed we have a choice of at least 2 of these considering the MF's projected top ten. I'm still curious as to whether any of Vic & Marvin's teammates are set to join us, but we shoul be able to pick up some decent depth with our 3 picks.

yeah you gotta be pleased with those reviews, that bodes well for us to get valuable depth, maybe competition for Hernendez.

Seriously, there's a guy named "Opare"? So we may wind up trading an "Opara" for an "Opare"? We could have just kept Ike and "bought (and sold) a vowel". :)

another mock this one is pretty good:

I could definitely see us taking Donnie Smith with the 34th pick. Here's the connection - he was the star player at UNC-charlotte, the team that Stanford coach Jeremy Gunn took to the NCAA final two years ago before leaving for a bigger paycheck at Stanford. We just hired Gunn a month ago to be an academy coach, so he is connected with the FO, and will probably recommend Smith to FY and JD. Smith played left mid in Gunn's direct 4-4-2 english system, which makes him a decent fit for FY's system. We will need a left mid if Dawkins doesn't come back.

check out his footwork in this clip I put up of him from the 2011 final:

That's some good info- will be interesting to see your prediction comes true. I actually watched that game- I thought he deserved a pk too.

Well, if Sandoval aspires to become the next Steven Lionheart, and we can get him at 33, then I say we go for it!

yeah.....thatas what bugged me about our second round last year. Hustedt may still be something but that wasted pick at goalkeeper.......still burns. We have a proven record of getting useful pieces in the 2nd round. With our 3 picks id like at least one central defender.....possibly two, a central mid, or a left back. As sexy as another Lenhart sounds, we already got Wondo, Lenny, Gordon, and now Tracy. I want to give Tracy at least one year to show he can be our number four forward. Also we already got two bruise brothers for forward, if we do grab a forward, we want a speedy streaky guy, we dont really have one of those yet aside from the unproven Tracy.

Well, we could either go 6'-3" 190 or Schoenle, at 6'2", and a buck fifty at best :).

ahhhh!! pumped on tomorrow :D gonna have 3 new faces that will probably be great depth for the team, cant wait to add em

i could easily see one of the higher rated foreign players dropping to us a la Enzo Martinez due to int'l slot usage after we got Medhi and Chavez green cards, gives us wonderful flexibility there.

Im not a fan of top drawer soccer. I give them points for trying, but Im not impressed.

I figure we take Dylan-Gangnes or Muller. I suspect we have Dylan-Gangnes rated higher. We need to draft a CB, and there just isnt a whole lot of depth at this position to wait till the second round unless...

We do what we've had a tendency to do, and use 2nd round picks to take guys none of us ever saw coming. If the FO likes a guy, they will lock him up in that second round, just like they did with Beita and Hustedt, neither of whom was on anyone's radar. I expect one of our 2nd round picks will be of this nature.

Maybe we could get him, and then somehow bring in Nani from ManU.

    Final mock draft from MLSsoccer.com:

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/superdraft...ck-draft-see-how-mlssoccercom-editors-pick-em

First round, the guys have us taking one of Dylan Tucker-Gangnes, Tommy Muller (both CBs), or Taylor Kemp(LB).

I'm hoping Kory Kindle falls to us, but if not, will be happy with Tucker-Gagnes. Important pick to watch is Houston, who will be going after the same thing. Looks like they may be picking one of those two, with us drafting whoever falls.

Total speculation, of course. :) Who knows, we may be involved I some draft day trading antics.. "What? Chivas USA wants to trade us the #2 spot for Baca?" Hehe.. ;)

I don't Kindle will go to Houston. Kinnear generally likes players with decent feet, and from what I hear Kindle's touch sounds a bit rough. Saghini and Borg are falling into a false stereotype.

I think Tucker-Gagnes is very possible for Houston there. MLS drafts are always unpredictable though. So we will find out.

yeah this draft theres really no chronology here. No one has any idea except for Chivas's pick. Educated guesses would be Farrell, Alvarez, but after that its a free for all.

EDIT: and the funs already getting started! New England just moved up with TFC to the 1 spot. Surely they want Farrell. Cant blame them thatd shore up their defense big time. Man Toronto really, really does not value the draft does it.

edit edit: colorado sends lawrentowitz to chicago for their first round pick....

We traded the 34th pick to Portland for the rights to Mike Fucito.

Caleb Porter is a genius, he just stole a draft pick and all he had to do was unload a superfluous donkey with zero first touch.
