And adults with a low tolerance for ass-holery and quips that consistently fall flat wouldn't have to put up with the incessant yapping of inane bozos like phil and ray. Ah, there is another - the ignorant twit with a condescending attitude ignoring correction on live tv. The player's name is Ma-nu-cho (all in modern english alphabets) not ma-nu-ko. The jackanape kept spewing his nonsense while Bodo kept correcting him each time and he just wouldn't stop mispronouncing the player's name. This moron, ray, phil and andres are all imbeciles.
Bodo is painful to listen to. WHO IS MEANT TO BE THE PLAY BY PLAY? If you have trouble forming the words in English, maybe speak a little less.
I love the Manucho comment. We hear the same thing with Mexes. Everyone in Europe uses one pronunciation and Phil, Ray, and FSC announcers seem to like some other Irish sounding name. These moves confirm for me what a class act Derek Rae is because he actually spends the time researching the teams, the games, and the players.
Lol I'm a big bein defender but can't defend this its absolutely awful. I do turn it to Spanish with him usually.
Unfortunately those of us who do not have this luxury are left with the task of translating to english.
Spot on. Who is producing this guy? The color commentator should not take over stretches of play by play. And talking it upon himself to announce the final score when the whistle blows? I would strangle him if he was my color analyst. Just shows you that BeIN just does not give a damn. If you live in the 305 area code and played in Europe, you have an announcing gig with them. Saves them lots of money on hotel rooms and per Diem.
I may qualify, depending on how high a level one needed to have played at. Hint : It wasn't Real Madrid.
Watched the Juve vs Parma game yesterday and Ross Dyer and Ian Paul Joy were the announcers. FAR more tolerable than the comedy duo of Schoen and Hudson. I then caught part of the Milan vs Sampdoria game last night and they had Richard Whittle from the international feed. Ah how I miss those guys. Best part is they're in the stadium and live in Italy. The insight they bring is far better than anything beIN Sport can do, and they don't come across as being clowns.
Better than Ray Hudson? I doubt it. He may be over exuberant, but he doesn't say dumb stuff very often which is more than I can say about most commentators. Plus he's funny. "He doesn't blast it, he caresses it, he kisses it, like Burt Lancaster on that beach." haha... how can you not love him?
Pretty easy not to love Ray Hudson, to be honest with you. Can we at least agree he is a polarizing figure, and it might not be in BeIN's best interests to heavily use a commentator loathed by at least a portion of its audience?
I think 90 percent of the viewers love him, go to his youtube videos and look at the comments the only haters he has are on here.
Being a soccer fan in this country means dealing with some crap. It's never going to be ideal. Calling beIN a failure though, to me, is implying that its worse than the other channels covering soccer here. And the beIN opponents here haven't been convincing that this is the case (sorry, but its true). To recap on the main complaints: 1) "Ray and Phil". We had them last season as well, broadcasting as many games for GolTV that is humanly possible to do in a day. So we are no worse off, even if you hate them; 2) "Not enough Serie A". beIN 1 and 2 have a full schedule of live soccer all weekend, every weekend. So the nitpickers are left complaining about their choice of matches, not their lack of live telecasts. Ho-hum; 3) "Show 2nd and 3rd replays of some matches before showing other matches even once". No worse than what FOX does. General practice by FOX is to show the same Champions League matches in prime-time that they showed live at 2:30ET that day, instead of a new CL match that hasn't been shown at all. Even worse than that, FOX would usually show a match at 4:45 ET that another FOX channel showed LIVE at 2:45. 4) "Show replays of La Liga instead of live Serie A Sunday morning match". Again, no different than what FOX does, showing CL replays instead of live football from South America which they have the exclusive rights for; 5) "No English Championship matches during X-mas break when beIN had nothing else to show" . Well today there are 9 FA Cup matches being played and FOX is showing 0 of them. Only 1 CdR match today and beIN is showing it. 100% versus 0%. Yet beIN is the failure here? Rly? If I missed any of your complaints, please feel free to respond.
Other than the odd Coppa Italia match on GolTV us Serie A fans didn't have to put up with them before. Choices? LOL, you mean lack there of. Last weekend there were THREE live Serie A matches on, and two of them were on at the same time. So all you could really watch were two live Serie A matches, with one taped. Compare that to the EIGHT live La Liga matches. Then there are the Coppa Italia games vs the 2nd leg Coppa del Rey games. Tape delay vs live, again. So forgive us while we lament the fact that our choices of live games are not as plentiful as yours. But it's different than what we were used to. I think that's your problem. You don't realize that Serie A fans used to have their pick of anywhere from 4-5 live games every weekend. We knew that the Saturday and Sunday night games would be shown LIVE. Not tape delayed, or even cut into the action during the second half. Fox is airing tomorrow's rematch between ManU and West Ham, live. That's one more game than beIN showed during the entire week, where there was a full slate of games of for two match days. And of course the Coppa Italia match is being shown at 8pm tonight. Tomorrow there are two CdR games, and of course both are live where as the Coppa Italia game is again on tape delay.
Yes, choices. They show 3-4 live serie A matches per round, but it isn't always Milan, Juve and Inter like it was with FOX. So as a Juve fan, you're way worse off, but overall its still pretty good. And you still have RAI. For Spanish fans, there is no back-up. We have to rely 100% on beIN. And is it really the end of the world if a game is on 1-2 hour tape-delay? I could see 12 hours or the next day replays being complain-worthy, but not small delays. What full slate of games are you talking about? What competition? beIN showed Milan v Juve live and the other QF's on tape-delay. Plus all 4 CdR QF games. Surely that's better than showing nothing at all. FOX is showing 0/9 FA Cup games today, neither live or tape-delay. Tomorrow is better, although if I wanted to nit-pick about choice of games, I'd complain that Swansea v Arsenal >>>> Chelsea v Southampton , a good argument IMO, but I won't go there. At least they are showing one live game instead of another live game. So tomorrow FOX is doing a good job, but what's with their Tuesday lineup? Showing crap games from 2-3 months ago instead of 9 live intriguing games.
