We did this last year and I found it helpful to catch some games I might not have otherwise known about. About to kick off on Fox Soccer Channel is a 3rd round English FA Cup tie between Liverpool and non league side Mansfield Town FC. If you enjoy March Madness, then you'll probably get a kick out of this one.
I sense a Premiership bias in this thread. La Liga Mx has started. Libertadores starts in 2 weeks and we have an African Nations Cup this year. the Nations Cup is must see tv!
Second to finally watching Brasileiro Série A matches last year (MLS is still my favorite league) is the discovery of free broadcasts of MISL games. Regular season games are currently being played until March. http://uslnation.com/MISL/index_dynamic.aspx Come to think of it, there are a lot of good Brazilians in the league, especially on one of perennial powerhouses, the Milwaukee Wave.
That's part of the reason I started this thread. I know well enough where and when to catch EPL games. I miss my Bundesliga games and am starting to like Napoli in Italy(space city blue). I'd watch the Vietnamese league if it was on somewhere. I like the EPL, but when I flip on FSC on Saturday morning and the matchup is Man Utd v Wigan at Old Trafford, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. The FA Cup games are fun though. Where else can you see something like this: That's Mansfield's CEO. Where can I catch the Libertadores and African Cup of Nations?
Libertadores is on Fox Deportes. I have no idea about African Cup of Nations but my friend Mr. Stream and Dr. Link help me out with those. Mexican Soccer League is legit, follow Pachuca.
last tournament espn3 had African Cup of Nations games. i don't see it currently listed, but it starts on January 19th and it may appear as we get closer. hopefully.
Checking out espn3/WatchESPN is a great tip. They often have league games from the Netherlands, Brazil, Portugal -- and various others for cup competitions. All kinds of stuff shows up there.
I would've never caught some Eredivisie, Championship, Primeira, or even Cricket matches if it wasn't for them. I also love it during major Tennis tourneys. Pro-Tip: KHL games are streamed there, as well. Yes, I'm a sports-junkie. I'll watch ANY sport if it's on.
Anybody got to see the Santos game? Read some post in the Chivas thread calling the dirty (could be bias)...
I watched it but didn't see much dirty other than a little diving on both sides. I did fall asleep for a bit, though. Chivas couldn't have been happy, though, giving up 2 goals and missing a penalty. Just watched the Brazil/Uruguay Conmebol game. It was a lot of fun. Brazil sucked but still came back to tie at 2 goals, only to give up the winning goal near the final whistle. The last Uruguay goal, and it's set up, was amazing. Even the British announcer did an Univision impersonation he got so excited. He was actually yelling at the end.
The African Cup has gone well over 3.5 hours without a goal scored. The two matches yesterday were terrible for viewing. Ghana v Congo right now is much more interesting, with the Congolese looking like they will score some goals. Very nice passing and personal skills shown by Congo. Ghana, who I am supporting this tournament, have had some good chances but Asamoah Gyan's terrible luck in South Africa has continued it seems, with a few missed shots in the goal mouth. *EDIT Ghana gets the first goal in the competition for 2013.
Fuad Ibrahim, who played for US youth nats and TFC, played for Ethiopia today. I heard a reporter who covers soccer there say that Ibrahim's background has been widely discussed there - and that they're proud to have him.
Colin Clark doesn't have sh*% on this. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...tops-chelsea-to-gain-league-cup-final?cc=5901 Video link: http://theoriginalwinger.com/2013-0...d-kicks-ball-boy-capital-one-cup-swansea-city
Yeah, but Sounders fans and Dan Loney and BigSoccer moderators aren't involved, so it isn't really appalling conduct compared to Colin Clark. The ball boy was probably wearing a Fox News shirt , he deserved it
that ball boy is a PRO! a. knew when and how to go for the ball in order to time waste. b. knew exactly what he was doing on top of the ball. c. was a better actor than bale, young or suarez. d. he more than accomplished what he intended to do. 3-5mins wasted plus hazard red carded. the king of ball boys..lol.. way to stay in the game. very much like our own dynamo ball boys.
