Corinthians played Chelsea in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup last week. Over 30,000 Corinthians fans traveled to Japan. There have been all sorts of reports of fans selling their cars, major household appliaces, etc. to raise money to make the trip. Here are a few pics. March to the stadium: Draw your own conclusions -- note the character in the back: Big-ass flags rule: Socrates will always be present:
Only place I could think of to place this: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/socce...s-fans-stand-during-games-210029437--sow.html
Reminds me of the final and the last home game.. my whole section was standing (mostly) throughout the game. I sometimes worry because I sit in the front row and i'm usually the last to sit down but eff those behind me.
I attended a couple of games at the Camp Nou a bit over a year ago and posted here about the great job by the visiting supporters group from Bate, a Belorussian club. I noticed in both games that the Barça supporters group weren't exactly as active, but don't think I mentioned it here. Well, Brian Straus apparently just visited the Nou Camp and tweets his impression of the home supporters: He makes a great point. I don't think anyone would argue that SGs in MLS have eclipsed the long-established, massive groups in South America, Mexico, Germany, etc. But the SGs in MLS also often get far less credit than many of them deserve -- even when compared with SGs in much more famous places.
I'm no expert on Barcelona, I would love to go to Nou Camp some day, but I've heard from several people that have been there that a lot of atmosphere is lost since there are so many tourists that go who don't know the songs and are just there to see it. Sort of interesting if true.
I think that's completely true. The number of tourists in the stadium for both games that I attended (as a tourist ) was clearly high. You can tell because they stand and sing the Barça anthem before games. The locals know the words, so you can see how many people stand and sing, and how many either stay seated or stand and don't sing. That's an imperfect measure, but it's probably not a bad way to tell who's local and who's a tourist. This past fall, I attended a game at the Emirates in London -- Arsenal x Schalke in the UEFA CL. I got a similar impression. The visiting Schalke supporters were amazing. They were far louder than the home fans, and stood and sang the whole game. They just took over the place.
My first reaction was to rep this post. But it feels wrong to laugh at a police officer bouncing down five rows after being hit with a drum! Stop posting these morally conflicting images Nordissimo
if it makes easier for you, due process in Mexico in these cases is handled in a dark corner by those police officers. so the throwee did NOT get off easily.
ok, I've got a week in Brisbane driving to Sydneyfrom 9-16 Feb, but only 1 weekend day (10 Feb in Brisbane). Any footy worthy of checking out? I will be wearing Dynamo gear periodically
Jeez, Millionarios hinchas must be besides themselves. They unveiled a similar telon but Nacional's telon takes the cake. Portland pumps smoke, South American clubs have telons the size of Cleveland. In Houston we just got our color bars (tiras) back. In our "own" stadium.
I'm right, though. Come on, bro, I'm sorry if you have not realized it yet, but um....you're a tad on the nerdy side.
So I picked up this ridiculously large USA flag (like, car dealership sized) this weekend in Austin. Mrs. Laz might be flustered by the necessity of storing such a beast, but I figured it would come in handy. And for the princely sum of $15.00US
I loved the smoke at the 2011 MLS Cup. That was beautiful, and it caused some real butt hurt and tears. They were trying to put the smoke bomb in the mud to put it out, but it kept going--and that was the second bomb. I thought it was better then the flashlights on the pitch.
If by nerdy you mean has run with the bulls in Spain, commonly breaks up bar brawls by himself and has fuked girls from Playboy magazine, well then yes, yes I am P11!
That doesn't takeaway from the fact that you're into Star Wars and can are a history junkie or the fact that you know who is in my avatar.
