The news report that Dilly Duka is on the trading block deserves its own thread.

Jardy has the following piece in the Dispatch: Duka on the Trading Block - In the piece Brian Bliss concedes that Dilly Duka is a malcontent neer-do-well who isn't worth as much as the Crew previously hoped. The Crew technical director cautions: “If we don’t find the right deal, Dilly’s going to have to resign himself to the fact that he’s going to have to come in and play like he did at the beginning of last year and put the end of 2012 behind him and come in and conduct himself like a pro,” Bliss said.

With that public ringing endorsement, I'm sure the Crew's phone has been ringing off the hook. And, I'm sure that the player is brimming with confidence heading into 2013. Huzzah!

This organization should really stop bad mouthing its own players. Brian Bliss, in particular, has diahrrea of the mouth. He can't wait to tell Jardy how unprofessional or ineffective our players are, when they are on the way out, whether they are being shopped, or after they've left.

You'll excuse me if I don't feel the need to yet again commisserate about that time when Dilly Duka was subbed out and went straight to the locker room. God forbid a player actually show some disappointment at being subbed out of a game. Disappointment is only for fans to show, apparently. Players need not have feelings.

Nice work, Jardy. Now the other team knows that we might play Duka sometimes.

The funny thing is that Bob was doing what was best for the player after the injuries he had. I find the straight talk refreshing. Probably due to Bliss' experiences in Germany. Mathis pulled the same cr*p in Hannover and was quickly gone. This isn't Romper Room (ok, I'm dating myself).

Straight talk is appreciated, truly but have some tact...

    Example:
From Bliss: Duka is a good talent that many teams will want to consider for their future. The Crew have decided to go another direction but would welcome him and he will play a role in the 2013 season if a better deal for mutual side cannot be met.

...see how hard that is? It lets us know as a fan, we are shopping him. It also doesnt diminish our side and the player.

I believe we call that being professional or responsible or something like that.

"Duka is a valued member of our club and we can't wait for him to contribute to our success in 2013" said a ficticious yet professional technical director.

Do we have the right coach and technical director for the youth movement we're currently embarking on?

Maybe it's because I know what Bliss already said but if I read this it would sound like BS to me and Bliss would get blasted for not just speaking his mind on here.

"The FO should be more straight-forward, I'm tired of this candy-coated crap" said everyone on BigSoccer that has a ficticious yet professional technical director.

Yeah, the talk probably isn't the greatest PR, but players are unhappy all the time. I'd be surprised if it actually impacts his trade value.

Nowak would have sent Duka to hospital.

I could see Porter taking to him. I think the way Portland will want to play will show Duka's strength as a player.

I realize that it's sports, and a lot of time that requires emotion that you wouldn't normally have in other work environments. So there's some grey area there, but these guys are getting paid to play, it's their job, and you don't just up and leave a meeting when you don't get your way at your job.

Clearly our head coach and TD need to be more professional and speak more responsibly. This could be achieved by thinking harder about what they say when the practice their remarks before going to the press

Man, I hate it when Bliss doesn't go ahead and twist the knife to finish it off. Somehow tack on a Danny Szetela reference at the end and it would have been complete.

Honestly, you guys think it is a big secret that we have issues with Duka and he's not happy here?

You think if Bliss sounded of spin off to Jardy other teams would be totally taken in?

How very Forest Gump/I am Sam of you.

Look, you can say what you want about the FO and the coach. But the cat is out of the bag on this one.

I'm pretty much done with Dilly Duka. All signs point to him being an entitled brat who doesn't know what it means to be a professional.

Granted, we are really only hearing one side of the story -- that can't be overlooked. But all the signs are there. And frankly, I've never been impressed except for a glimpse here or a glimmer there. He's not worthless -- I mean, he's got some talent. We've seen him do some good things. But he's another Griffit, only with a little more playing time.

If he winds up staying, and proves us wrong, and turns out to be the greatest thing since the greatest thing since the greatest thing since the greatest thing since sliced bread, I'll be more than happy to eat my words here. But I'm not seeing it.

If we can get something for him, great. If he stays, I don't think it's the end of the world, either. He can still play a role. But I'm over the whole idea of him being the next great missing link for us.

He is not another Griffit and you know it, get real. No seriously, get real. But did Bliss' wince-inducing trademark 'tough talk' just reduce his value? It's hard to think that it didn't. Way to turn an asset into a pariah, Bliss. Good job.

If nothing else, this should learn them to not draft or bring in players from New Jersey. Gaven is a servant of the Lawd, so he gets a pass. lol
