Opponent to be announced-- only info that Garber gave is that it is guaranteed that it will be a club that is a "soccer power".

Garber talks about the value of using the fan passion on display at the All Star game as a recruitment tool to get famous overseas players to come to the league.

    Press conference now over

only one question that was slightly interesting-----why the switch to smaller stadiums for the All Star Game as opposed to larger NFL stadiums that could sell out and make super $$$ for the league?

Garber responded that you don't build a multi-million dollar stadium and not take the opportunity to showcase it. It's a commitment that the League has made to those who have invested in building MLS stadia. All Star Game acts as a celebration of pro soccer and the soccer specific stadiums are part of that celebration.

But that's the way MLS has done it for years. It's not a "major announcement" in MLS unless it's been aged 2-30 days to give it that rich, musky, "major announcement" flavor.

Kind of figured it would be in Kansas City this year. Still hoping one day they'll go back to the East vs West format and maybe a skills competition.

Sepp Blatter would laugh at such a statement. Get as much $$$ as you can.
