Is it alright if we use this as a general CF thread (kind of like the last one turned into) for convenience sake?

Well you should be prepared to break that promise because I don't see any team outside of the Gamecocks, Aggies and Tide to really carry this conference's namesake.

LSU, Georgia, and Florida all have problems entering next season, and Vandy might be the dark horses.

James Franklin has done a hell of a job with Vanderbilt considering what he has to work with and he deserves all the credit in the world for getting them to nine wins, but they're still Vanderbilt (albeit a better version.) They beat two teams with winning records (Ole Miss and NC State...both 7-6) and they're can consistently beat terrible teams, but that's about all you can say. That's a huge stepping stone for them and one they should be proud of, but they're not going to make any real noise anytime soon. If they somehow got to Atlanta ahead of Florida, South Carolina and Georgia, just imagine what Alabama, TAMU or LSU would do to them. It'd be a bloodbath.

Yea, but a lot of people seem to be fond of them next season. They return a lot of players so I can see why they would. Analysts probably meant that Vandy will be a team you can't snooze on anymore. We'll what Franklin has to work with over the spring.

Brian Kelly interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles and plans to meet with them again upon returning from abroad. I wonder if he's really interested in going or if he's just angling for more money from Notre Dame. If he goes, where does Notre Dame go for a coach? Would Urban jump ship for the dream job despite only having been at Ohio State for a year?

    That would be hilarious.

I also heard rustlings of Jim More Jr. to San Diego... hmmm

Manti T'eo's dad calls for a boycott of the Honolulu Star Advertiser after a photo was published of Manti failing to tackle Eddie Lacy. Lolz.

So, how do you think Johnny Heisman's second season as a starter is going to pan out?

Not as well as this season. Coach Sumlin has at least two O-linemen to replace, possibly five. The next Cyrus Kouandjio (sp?) and Chance Warmack may not want to serve inder him. Plus, he'll be only the third or fourth returning holder since the media made cfb a 24/7 obsession.

...So how do you rates Aggies chances at making a championship run?

Zero. If they were in the SEC East, they could win it, lose the SECCG to Bama and still back into this upcoming "playoff" for a semifinal loss. But they're going to become a perrennial #2 to Bama in the West, and only Bama has enough fellators to advance to this "playoff" without being even a division champ.

So you don't think Aggies have a chance to do the unthinkable and beat Bama again in College Station?

Sure. But they'll lose more games overall than Bama, even if they beat Bama. They are ripe for another upset to LSU as well as to Arkansas.

Even if they do, I think they're more likely to lose other games than Bama is.

LSU's defense is in shambles and will be very young and inexperienced.. Offense.. god forbid we have one.

Arky.. rebuilding.. new system.. they'll be lucky to win 5-6 games under Bielema.

Aggies also have eight home games.. hilariously weak OOC and return Jake Matthews to their new O-line and their leading receiver Freshman, Mike Evans.. oh and that runningback who transferred from Oklahoma. They also basically return everyone on defense.

If they beat Bama I can see them running the table.. their East foes are Vandy (trap?), and Missouri. tbh they have two games to be really worried about.

Arkansas is the trap. I don't see even Coach Franklin being able to raise Vandy up like that again.

Nobody knew it, but they had a great chance to do it this year...and they came within a gnat's ass of doing so. Florida barely squeaked out a win against them (they won by 3.) If you'll also remember, that game against Florida wound up being TAMU's first because of a hurricane postponing their opener. It's a lot of "ifs and buts" but if TAMU had a warm up game, they might've beaten Florida. If there rest of the season played out the same, they would've had the tiebreaker over Bama and TAMU vs. Georgia would've been the SECCG.

My question for y'all for the day is do y'all think Malzahn will be able to get Auburn back off the ground anytime soon?

I think Auburn's success topped out under Tuberville. Remember, he was just as undefeated in 2004 as Chizik in 2010 but OU was the bigger name is all. But Bama was down then due to social mores influencing their coach hires. Once the Tide got a man who had both the right look and the right amount of talent, Auburn was done as a troo contenda. Auburn will get less talent tjan their neighbors Georgia and Florida bevause they'te not even the big ptogram in their own state.

will Cam Newton return to college??

No. All of their top recruits have decommitted in the last month. Dee Liner, Tashawn Bower, Reuben Foster, and iirc Carl Lawson.. all highly rated 4 stars and 5 stars defenders... tough times in Auburn.
