After dominating the Sub 20 World cups until 2007 the last two have proven disapointing for the Albiceleste. The Argentina Primera has had the reputation of producing the best young talents on the planet.I think with the likes of Ocampos,Lanzini,Paredes,Centurion,Vietti,Allione,Zuculini, etc this years crop has huge potential for Olarticochea and Tata Brown to wotk with.Tournament starts on January 9 and its going to be interesting to see our plantel.

imo, easily the most promising sub-20 in years... on paper. Now, if that's going to translate on the field is another matter.

Para Marcelo Trobiani, Leandro Paredes es un jugador "intermitente" y por eso no lo convocaría al sudamericano sub 20 via@GermanCarrara

    Pfff....

All the big name additions will be in Turkey later in 2013. I do agree, this is a good crop of players we have.

That's true, we will see where will see where it goes. I am surprised I didn't see Iñíguez in the list, did Argentino's not let him go?

No hopes for the giant Mehring then ? Priority is to qualify and then make the big push in Turkey this summer. Dybala , Innocenti and Icardi about as well.

I think the likes of Dybala, Icardi will likely make the cut, Dybala is a no brainer. Icardi is being followed by some English clubs right now, and I would hope he just stays in Italy. Do not know much about Innocenti(He was called up though months back though, I think mainly it was because of the game being played in Europe), I think I saw him play months back. I don't really follow the Serie B this season since La Samp have come back to the first division. Lets not forget Ocampos will likely be there, it's another top heavy team we have. Very talented on paper as somebody already mentioned. I look forward to see Lazini play now, and likely in the summer, Paredes another addition likely in the summer. Also Iturbe will likely be there too. I believe Cholo's son Gio could be another crack. Can't forget about Centurion. The defense could be better, if we had the last group of U20 players defense and this group of attackers, it would've of been a great thing. The last generation gave us strong defenders for the future and this generation should not have problems scoring goals. Some players will be left out. Very promising team but again as it's how they do it on the field. Here is a list of the players that have been called.

    Mehring is on the list.

    Sub 20 -AFA: 1- Andres Mehring; 4-Eros Meraglia, 2-Facundo Onraita, 6-Lautaro Gianetti y 3-Lucas Rodríguez; 8- Lucas Romero, 5-Marcos Kranevitter, 10- Manuel Lanzini,11- Ricardo Centurión; 7-Lucas Melano y 9-Luciano Vietto.

    Equipo que ingresará en el 2do tiempo: 12-Walter Benítez; 13- Alan Aguirre, 14- Lisandro Magallán, 15-Jonathan Valle y 16-Carlos Ruíz ; 17-Pablo Carrera,18- Erick Remedi, 19-Agustín Allione; 20-Alan Ruíz; 21- Giovanni Simeone y 22-Carlos Luque.

For the sake of all Argentinos every where and our reputation, I hope we do forget about centurion.

Teams are after him, I see that Porto,Man City and Napoli are all gunning after him(Yeah I said that on purpose). To be disciplined and grow like an adult Man City might be the best place for him. I know Carlitos is there, Kun and Zaba I believe Kun and Zaba could put a positive influence on him. Carlitos can..... But I will have a feeling that those 2 could cause havoc. Porto seems like the team that continues to put out talent. Napoli might be a bad move in many ways. You have to grow mentally and Italy I just do not think playing there will be good. Porto is probably ideal. Maybe in the near future him and Iturbe could play together.

There could be a single problem with Centurión, which is a possible transfer to Porto, if he leaves now forget about him and the U20, at least until the World Cup. However it's likely that Racing will make a deal to sell him now and he leaves when the season ends. It's also possible, but less likely, that there's no transfer at all.

Better he stays another season in the domestic league. I have some doubts about Porto getting the best out of him and developing him correctly given the depth they have in midfield.

And it is a bit sickening that these clubs are the ones who eventually profit massively ie the di Maria transfer to Real Madrid whereas the parent club in Argentina gets peanuts.

That's the fault of the clubs. They are in such a rush to make some change they sell at the first offer. Imagine how much Lamela would have been worth if river kept him another year? Or even waited for after the sub 20 mundial we would have got another 2-3 million

Rule number one for argentine clubs- don't sell before a big youth tournament! (Although this could backfire like it did for funes mori, but true cracks always shine in the sub 20)

Looks like Ocampos will not be joining the pibes in the Sub20 tourney next month. No real shocker, most of the European based kids are not really going to be released. So we will likely see them in Turkey.

That is if we make it.

With the players we have, we definitely should.. but I don't want the same thing as 2009 to happen where key players weren't released and we didn't get a chance to defend our title(s).

I'd be shocked if we didn't make it this time around. Yes 09 was quite bad but there is more talent this time around and we are at home.

The tournament kicks off tomorrow. Argentina plays Chile and it looks like we are playing a very attacking line-up.

Walter Benítez; Lucas Romero, Lautaro Gianetti, Lisandro Magallán, Carlos Ruiz; Kranevitter; Iturbe, Ruiz, Lanzini, Centurión; y Vietto.
I have no idea about Chile's team, but I would think we should beat them handily... Many of our players are first team regulars, like Lanzini, Centurion, Vietto...
As a River fan I am going to be especially curious to see how Iturbe links up with Lanzini as Iturbe is joining my team on loan when this tournament is over.

The other guy to look our for is Matias Kranevitter. He has only played 1 match for River, and it was only for 2 minutes, but he has been compared to Mascherano and is a crack

The kid has immense promise. Nice to have him and Cirigiliano despite a dip in form as '5's. There should be a stream for this and KO is 2245 GMT for those intending to stay up and watch some members of the future seleccion in action.

Hope we get off to a cracking start win the whole thing and then resume our dominance at u20 level.

From the first 40 minutes of the game, all I see are a bunch of individuals, no real team. Lanzini,Iturbe and Ruiz all have been horrible.

I like Kranevitter on the ball. Benitez has been asleep. Neither wingback is covering adequately. Plan seems to be get it to Centurion and let him run.

Great miss from Vietto. Excellent pass from Kranevitter.

One of the Chileans will be sent off for certain. One should already have gone.
