So you're going to complain, no matter what? Well, this is the DC United board, after all, and you're fitting in well here!

Interesting.... we're offering him some form of a school scholarship so he can play with us, while we pay for his studies. Would he play with our youth team then probably? I am sure his parents will want that for his boy.

soo my source as someone earlier in this page said, Jose Escalante has garnered the interest of DC United, but of a couple of Mexican teams aswell.

Jose did indeed play against AC Milan, but not only that.. he also scored. lol He's only had spot duty this season at Olimpia cuz he's 18, was 17 at the start of the season, so yes he's very young, but among the Olimpia faithful they see him as a very promising wing/attackingmid/supporting striker

I wonder if his family may push him to america so he gets a legit degree from a college like George mason in the area.

With that said, anyone hear how Riquelme was VERY close to following Carlos Bianchi to CHivas USA before Boca jumped in and brought him to Boca?

He said he was going to follow bianchi if he went to Chivas.

We should make a move for him...

Riquelme barely jogs, let alone runs (even though hes magic with the ball at his feet). Don't think ben olsen would want that.

Pontius is still nursing the groin injury according to Fox Soccer. I'm hoping he gets better soon.

I was amazed at first when I didn't see him on the list. Groin injuries just linger...
Hopefully Hamid does well in the camp and gets to go to Honduras. It'll be interesting to see if one of those three go or if Rimando goes as the 3rd keeper. If I'm Klinsmann, I'd take Hamid or Johnson over Tally Hall or Rimando due to youth and upside.

I'm wondering if Brad Guzan is playing his way out of the picture at Aston Villa?

(of course this has nothing to do with the DCU roster at this point)

    Thx,

    Jay!

Doubt it. They have a competent backup and they haven't switched Guzan out. I haven't watch more than a few minutes here or there, but Villa's field players have been the reason they've been leaking goals, not Guzan from what I've seen and what I've read from match reports. But yes... we're getting off DC topic.
I'd love to talk some DCU... but the team is practicing some sort of radio silence with the exception of the John Thorrington "bombshell".

Ive heard very good things about him from Brazilians I often talk to through working with EA. And when I say "good things", I mean better than all of DC's current strikers "good". You never know though, I along with many others would have said the same thing about Salihi when he came in and he, well, need I say more?
Point is... I'd be thrilled if I was a DC supporter. In fact, I kind of am anyways because the way he's been talked about, I am happy that MLS teams can now pull this kind of young talent.

The thing is, Salihi IS better than all of DC's other current strikers.

I saw both games in which he gave up a combined 12 goals. It was not his fault. There was maybe 1 or 2 of them in which maybe he could have reacted better or take a slightly better line on the shot, but in most games nobody would look twice at it to blame the keeper.

The announcers tended to agree, saying a few times he was being hung out to dry.

He also made some really fantastic saves in both games, so, there you go. He's not the camp because he's in season.

    Touche...

Indeed, I need to stop letting outside influences direct my thoughts on this team.

I have been duly warned! :)

I think he can, yea. While he's no spring chicken, his game has never been about pace. He still has vision, ability to win fouls, he's a big guy, and has amazing FK's, see's passes, can dribble at people and create opportunities outside the box.

Here's an example on how he's good at winning fouls. I think an MLS ref would be eating out of his hand like Blanco had the refs.

Here's some recent video's of his ability when he last played. He still has it. For sure can kill it in MLS, IMO.

SoccerInsider: Getting word D.C. United's Andy Najar going on loan to Anderlecht for rest of month. Had been training with club. Transfer ahead? #dcu #mls

I hope we have a player targeted as Najar's replacement just in case we never see him in a dcu jersey again.

Wow. That would really and truly suck (for DCU) if we lose him to Europe this year. Andy is one of the most dynamic players out there, and a joy (most of the time) to watch. Our lack of action in the transfer market now concerns me a bit more than before.

This also struck me... could we be the only place globally that is willing to give a player a back-up plan in case their carter don't work out? I mean, its not like in England where there is much opportunity *as in lower division clubs, for the workman like wages we pay here for domestic players.
