Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is tonight mulling over a move for Kansas City forward C.J Sapong. Sapong was the 2011 rookie of the year in the MLS and scored nine times last season. He will be a surprise choice for many Arsenal fans but, at 6ft 1in and with pace to burn Sapong could prove useful as the gunners look to make up ground on the top three. A fee of £3million has been agreed with personal terms to be sorted out later this week

I saw this yesterday and laughed so hard I spit soda out of my nose. No offense to Sapong; I think he has a bright future but not the kind of future involves slipping on an Arsenal kit. I've never really heard of the Football Magazine and I seriously doubt their credibility especially when they provide no sources or have any quotes. I think it's safe to say the is B.S.

    Too good to be true.

And even if it does happen, CJ probably wouldn't ever see the pitch save for the odd FA Cup fixture so would it really be a good one?

This most likely has no chance. But since it is in the transfer window, and I did see it, I posted it.

Might be possible if they loaned him out to a club on the continent though, I think. Maybe I'm wrong there.

    That fee seems quite high.

Well we know from the Ream dealings that Wenger definitely is not afraid to shop MLS.

Why not? He can pass, score and dribble well.

Whoa. Why is he valued so highly? Maybe they buy him just to loan him out.

This definitely would definitely be a boost to his morale. Kinda like when it was rumored Ream was being tracked by Arsenal

If they immediately loaned him out to another (Belgian, Dutch or Championship) team where he could get 1st team minutes, then it would be a good move. Otherwise it's stupid for all parties involved and, likely as not, something that's been invented to drive web hits.

Ivan Gazidis influence if you ask me.

Arsenal are at least scouting/looking at US/MLS options. They have full-time North American scouts after all. (Danny Karbasiyoon and company) So is Arsenal "looking at" CJ Sapong? Of course they are. They're also "looking at" every quality player in MLS. They have people who do that for a living.

To me the notion that Arsene Wenger is "keen" on CJ Sapong is far-fetched, but you never know. SKC actually has a glut of strikers at the moment after bringing in Bieler. [Kamara, Bieler, Sapong, Bunbury, Dwyer, etc.] When they brought in Beiler, my first thought was "they don't really need another forward." However, perhaps they knew that Sapong had significant interest from Europe....................

Wenger put in 2 real bids for ream but both times they were rejected. Maybe sapong is a hidden gem and we just can't see it because the mls style hides what he is truly capable of......

Are my eyes deceiving me? Sapong for Arsenal?????? I am sorry. I just can't see it. I would love to be absolutely wrong.
