And apparently all we're trading them is an international slot.

lol NY basically just giving a player away to free up cap space. There is basically no downside to this move.

Other than the fact it might mean we can't bring in our yearly Uruguayan

Lindpere will be a good addition. No downside, kinda like not having a president anymore.

They probably need a international spot sign a new DP, they get a DP we get Lindpere. If we do get him where does he play?

    Will he start?

    If so who sits?

If we are giving them an international spot for Lindpere.

How many do we have left?

They are getting rid of him for cap space, so I can't imagine they have all that much ability to sign a DP.

As for international spots, we have 7
    1. Alex
    2. Friedrich
    3. MacDonald
    4. Tornaghi
    5. Franco?
    6. Free
    7. Free

Assuming Franco is out, we would still have three open spots.

Edit: Apparently Lindpere has a green card, so he wouldn't take up a spot. HTIOT lied to me on twitter

I'm sure Fernandez has one. Don't know about the rest, but that was the list that HTIOT tweeted, so I assume he knows whats up...

Fernandez, Santos and Segares I believe have green cards, Pardo dosen't...

We get a total of 8 internationals (I think).
    1.Freidrich
    2.Tornaghi
    3.Alex
    4.MacDonald
    5.Pardo
6.Franco (like you said he's probably gone)
    7.Traded to New York
    8.???????

So we have two left, one for our DP striker and one for our new CAM.....

So that pretty much means none of the Foreigners that are out on loan will come back to the Fire, I think we knew that about Robayo and Grazzini, I guess Puppo could still come back for that 7th and last International spot.

So how do we lineup then?

Rolfe up top with Macdonald, Lindpere as CAM? Nyarko out left, Flaco out right, Pause or Pardo as the CDM, and then Segares, Friedrich, Berry, Anibaba, and Johnson in goal? I like the move but I just really want a DP striker up top with Macdonald who can play off him and score goals. I know Lindepere is a starter so I know we won't bring in a ST now of high quality but if we did could we move Lindpere to the left and have Nyarko come off the bench and slot Rolfe in the CAM spot?

Klopas said he diagreed with NY playing Lindpere out wide, and that he sees him as box to box. Which probably means Lindpere will be the Pardo replacement, and we will see

    -----MacDonald------
    Flaco--Rolfe--Nyarko
    --Lindpere--Pause---
    -------The Guys------

With Rolfe continuing in his "is he a midfielder or a forward" role.

Pardo as Pause cover, Santos as MacDonald cover, Oduro as Gargan cover, Alex as Flaco cover, Thompson as Nyarko cover, Paladini as Lindpere cover?

So we could run out a full B team of
    --Santos-Oduro--
    Alex----------Wells
    --Paladini-Pardo--
    -The Other Guys-

Not that I would ever recommend it, but that's pretty solid coverage, other than Thompson.

"Since New York cut ties with Hans Backe, they have been the most active MLS team this offseason, parting ways with 14 players while adding another seven."

I've been slightly annoyed by the lack of any Fire related movement this offseason, but this is definitely how not to build a successful team.

How about Lindpere in the CAM position? Move Rolfe up top where he belongs and play a 4-4-2. I would rather have Alex in the starting 11, but I see why Frankie continues to play Fernandez.

Personally, I'd agree, though we'd be stuck again with the Pause dilemma. I also agree that Alex should start if Flaco doesn't majorly step up next season.

But the formation I put is based on Frank's comment that he saw Lindpere as a box-to-box, so I assume that means he will be playing further back, like Robayo did while he was with us (though, hopefully with more success). Of course, its possible he's just talking BS and will play him somewhere else, we'll just have to see

I for one don't think Lindpere will be 1st choice next year and that we'll try to run out the same lineup on opening day that we used last year. Lindpere will probably be used to give people a break; either at CAM to spell our forwards or more box to box to spell our DMs.
