So this article was on Football Italia today. It's an opinion piece on Destro and his impact at Roma. I have attached the poll to get a feel for what the members of this board think. http://www.football-italia.net/29051/real-destro
This author has no idea what he is talking about. Zeman doesn't run them both together, so of course one is going to play more than the other. Destro has usually played real well and influenced goals when playing if he hasn't scored them. El Shaarawy has done "So much" better because everything goes through him cause it HAS TO. There is no other alternative. Take nothing away from Stephen, amazing what he is doing, but he also starts every match. Destro has done real well with the time he has been given
Just for the record, when has Osvaldo pulled Roma out of a rut? When did he change the game with his grinta? Really get into the match and change the swing of things? Something that has become apparent, which I can't claim as my own idea, is that Osvaldo only flourishes when the team does.
At this age, destro is far better player then i have seen others ( like osvaldo was crap with bologna) he will be big
I hate football Italia. Destro wastes chances but there are few strikers his age that identify channels that way he does.
Is there no option for pathetic?....I hate when these journo's write articles when they dont have a deep understanding of the situation....Just skimmed over a few basic stats, pull out a quote from him when he missed that sitter quite a while ago and write up a poor article.....If he watched Roma before the Christmas break, if he had an ability to judge, he would have seen Destro was coming along very well.....Idiot
I tend to agree with the sentiments shown here for the most part. I myself voted the article was too harsh.
I did and i'll quite happily tell you why. This person describes Destro's form as "utterly inconsistent". If you all take your Roma sunglasses off he's absolutely spot on. Can you all who voted for too harsh seriously say you have been impressed with him during his time so far? He needs alot of work, his first touch has been extremely poor, his vision non-existant and don't get me started on his running off the ball. I also think he needs to shed a few pounds aswell, looks a a bit on the heavy side at times. Don't get me wrong i want the lad to succeed and badly, he's only 21 and there is huge potential in him but it's going to take alot of work like i said. If anyone can improve his game, it's Zeman. Prove me wrong Mattia!
Exactly! From what I have seen, I cannot understand such praise for the youngster, even on his assist to Totti against Fiorentina, he took an awful first touch. As a player myself, it is so evident how much work he needs.
Also, I never saw this mentioned here due to what an amazing game the Fiorentina one was...but when Fiorentina scored this first goal: (around the 28 seconds) you can see our defense attempting a very interesting offside trap on a free kick, which failed miserably. You can see it done properly here:
Yeah I agree his assist for Totti showed more a lack of confidence to not shoot than vision but of course he is going to be inconsistent when he doesnt start all the time, its rare a young player comes in now and again and plays incredibly well when asked. They need a run of games, but he's behind Osvaldo and so he will just have to learn to improve everyday and take his chance... when it comes... Cant agree with Capitano 10 either
No-one adopts it every time but it is quite common to see teams attempt an offside trap from a dead-ball situation. Even at youth level I played in sides that used this from time to time.
Let me make this clear. I know he's not had a proper run out compared to other players, im only judging from what i've seen so far. Im sure there is more to come from the young lad
To be fair to Destro, he really hasn't been given enough games in the center to build up any type of form. Form is everything with strikers. And just making odd cameos and playing out of position isn't going to build up his form. Which is why I voted too harsh.
The article itself is stupid. Destro hasn't been given the starting spot so obviously he will struggle to find consistency. He has also been played out of position and in the games where he was given a full 90 mins, he was always dangerous and a threat to score. He is still very young and the absolutely asinine and crazy predictions that Destro was going to be the capocannoniere and score 25-30 goals don't help his case. Let the kid play his football and we can judge him when an appropriate amount of time has passed for us to judge him. I am so sick of this shit of judging players and coaches prematurely all the time. Can we just have one ********ing year where they let us play and judge us at the end of the year instead of pointless articles written by ******** fans from other teams. Gotta get used to it though as everyone seems to want Roma to fail.
