Not in any particular order but the following are considered the top players in the team: Uchuari, Ramirez, Leon, Gruezo, Ona, and Corozo.

We have quality players in midfield and defense but we do not have somebody we can count on to put the ball in the net. The guy who will probably lead the attack (Andrade) is untested at club as well as international level.

They are playing really good. I'm loving their style. A lot of touches and nice passes. Too bad for the own goal but they need to just breath and calm down. They can do it. A lot of talent there (more than last U20?).

Actually you're right. The strikers aren't really known besides Parrales who's bearly 17 years old but holds it down pretty well in his position. I heard great things about him and seen him play in Manta this past season. He's a product of Independiente, so i knew he'd respond well up front. Independiente had him loaned out for this season to Manta, but wonder where he'll be this season. The kid i don't know much about is Ely Esterilla from Santos Laguna.

Overall I think the NT is great. With 2 issues-
    1. i'm not a fan of jacob murillo. I've seen him play in Olmedo and he's not better than Junior Sornoza. But since Murillo is a regular starter and Sornoza isn't, he gets the heads up. As far as Gruezo and Eddy Corozo they are great. Andres Ona is also on the bench i believe. Great players in that position. I feel like we lack a winger with physical presence- like a Renato Ibarra or Marcos Caicedo- that's classic ecuador wing playing. We have smaller players like Murillo and Uchuari in this NT who like to move in diagonally towards the middle a lot. They're not as fast as Renato or Marcos but they are much more agile, so i hope that's to their advantage. But with Velasco and Ramirez behind these guys, it makes up for it.

    2. This NT is also a but undecided when it comes to clearing the ball in the defensive half of the field. The past u-20 defenders like Quinonez, Pineida, Narvaez, Fuertes...all of them would clear the ball out when we'd be in danger. This team wants to play toque toque and dribble it out a little bit too much when we're in danger- which is exactly how we scored that own goal. We caused that ourselves. Rosero needs to work on that. Our defenders decision making needs to be fast. Besides that, everything is great.

Damn can't wait. I might have a heart attack. Watching American Football my favorite team 49ers in the playoffs and Ecuador vs. Venezuela at the same time. Not good for the heart lol.

Well that sucked... they played so good but they just couldn't score. They went all out and the D still held up well but that goalie was good. Ecuador should have won it though, no excuse.

He's too old to play...He'll be 21 in a couple of months so that makes him ineligible. Only U-20 guys can play.

Damn they were winning and playing well, but I knew that defense was weak. Seriously Ecuador can't produce good defenders even if their life depended on it. Wack.

Velasco was horrible! He easily wins the award for worst player on the team during the whole tournament. The poor kid got raped the whole game, it was embarrassing to watch. Their level of play really dropped off after the second goal.

I liked Uchuari and Sornoza in the first half, Ramirez and Ona were solid for the most part. Mathematically we're still in it but I don't see us qualifying.

Yep, no way we qualify. I was mistaken this team has as much talent as the last U20. They aren't even close. My favorite was that guy from Santos Mexico. Also, the mid field was pretty good.

IMO the goalie, forwards, and defense sucked! That golie just looks so insecure and weak. My most disappointing performance though is Cevallos. I was hoping for him to be a fundamental player to help Ecuador qualify but he is average at best. Liga seriously cannot produce players which is sad to me.

For the game against Peru, Velasco needs to come out and Lopez has to be put in. Another change I would make is Parrales for Gutierrez.
