Not really sure what angle they plan to take. But I think it will be part political (referencing the elections in Catalunya last week) and part sport. Expected to be aired in January.
hmm... CBS took this event more seriously than I would have thought. One of their main hosts, Bob Simon, was there interviewing Barca fans to learn about the fan culture here in North America! At first I was thinking the profile of Messi and FC Barcelona will just be a 3-minute segment on the show, but now I'm guessing it will be a lot longer! It all worked out perfectly as we had over 100 fans there cheering when Espanyol scored, Messi got #90 and Barca won!
Looks like the Messi/Barca special on 60 minutes won't be on the main CBS channel. It will be part of the premiere of a new series "60 Minutes Sports" and air on Showtime on 9 January. Here's more info: http://fangsbites.com/2012/12/60-minutes-sports-premieres-january-9-2013-on-showtime/
Aw hell. I have HBO just for their boxing and Real Sports show. And I love watching 60 Minutes. Now I'll need to figure out how to include Showtime in my budget.
There are actually TWO Barca/Messi pieces coming up. One on 60 Minutes this Sunday Jan. 6 on the regular CBS network, and another on 60 Minutes Sports on Showtime this Wednesday Jan. 9.
