True. And don't get me wrong, I'd be laughing all weekend had Montoya scored there. But the truth is we didn't deserve to win that game. Could've been 3 -nil for LPB after 30 minutes if not for a lot of luck. But also bad luck for Barca that they played LPB at the one time when they were in good form.
And Messi is youngest on the top 10 alongside Cavenni but off course Messi is no.1 But to me the list is a joke without Lampard, Higuain, Erik Lamela. Only top 20 can be taken seriously, the rest they probably just make the list for fun. Gareth Bale is above Puyol, Carlos Tevez and Didier Drogba? do they even know what these guys has contribute and achieve compare to Bale?
This is mostly about other teams though Barca features prominently in 2 of the 12; FIFA's 12 moments that defined 2012 football list is out. They are sad in Madrid as Real finally winning La Liga did not make it (tbh the 100 points thing was pretty impressive but Barca and Real have had impressive points and goals totals for the prior 3 years as well). Here's the list: http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/news/newsid=1977017.html?intcmp=newsreader_news_box_3
^^^ Only two complaints with the list: As great a player as Pirlo is, "knocking the Three Lions off their stride" during a penalty shootout doesn't require much. (MARCA is also lamenting that Sergio Ramos' Panenka penalty against Portugal wasn't included since Pirlo's was. Given the opposition that Pirlo and Ramos were up against, MARCA may have a case.) And I'd already forgotten about that amazing/fantastic/incredible/unbelievable/overrated goal by Zlatan that he scored in the final Serie A match of the season the Coppa Italia finale the Europa League final the Champions League final the EURO final the World Cup final some meaningless friendly until I read that article. Pity that goal came too late to be considered for the FIFA Puskas Award™ where it likely would have finished in either 9th or 10th place. Here are a few things that didn't make FIFA's list that I felt were worthy of inclusion as they may be more remembered than some of those mentioned by FIFA: • Against all odds, Valencia, a club not even challenging for the title in the two-team league that is La Liga, somehow comes away still alive after a full 90 minutes of bitter cold and rough, tough physical play by the home side and - are you ready - manages to achieve not a draw but a mind-boggling 1-0 victory over Stoke City on a cold winter's night at the Britannia. The British media is still in a daze at how this was able to happen. • Barcelona knocked out Real Madrid in the COPA DEL REY! Yes folks, the exact same tournament that in 2011 was deemed as the toughest and most important competition in existence. • Sergio Ramos' penalty against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals was struck so supremely and well placed that Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner felt obliged to crawl into some tin can and fly some 24 miles above earth to retrieve the ball for his own personal collection. According to a spokesperson at Sotheby's the estimated value of that ball if it was put up for auction to allow for a bidding war between supporters of FC Barcelona and FC Bayern München would be, and I quote... • Four words uttered at EURO 2012. • 16 points. I'm probably missing others.
Did anyone watch the Arsenal game? They won 7-3 but it was pretty equal most of the time. Arsenal just went crazy towards the end. Walcott wants to be like a Messi type player now and he’s playing mostly through the middle. He got a nice hattrick but his first was offside.
Wooh there ..., Lampard only just scrapes into the top 20 at Chelsea !! Nowhere near the world top 20 IMHO
Yea but not even in top 100? How do you actually rate someone like Bale above of Puyol , Tevez and many other MUCH better players?
Reminds me of a memorable quote from a memorable former regular of this forum. Shortly after Barcelona won the 2006 Champions League final Mr. Alex praised Arsenal with this gem...
Interesting article about the balance of power in re-signing players given the Bosman, in this case it focuses on Theo Walcott's current situation: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323320404578211441936337024.html?mod=djemMTIPOFF_h
Yikes! Chelsea's season hits a new low. Lost to QPR at home! Have a feeling that this will prove to be a massive 3 points for QPR when we reflect on everything at the end of the season.
Yeah, because Liverpool have no money and are just itching to get rid of their best player. But speaking of strikers, seems the rumors are getting strong now about David Villa being sold to either Spurs or Arsenal. Barca asking for 16 million pounds.
Villa is not leaving this month, I don't know why the media keeps persisting with the speculation. Suarez would be a brilliant addition to this team, but I don't see it happening unless we fail to sign Neymar and Liverpool don't play CL football in the next two seasons, both of which are unlikely in my opinion.
If we get rid Villa then we need to have a replacement on hand Either Neymar or Saurez and instead of Saurez staying at Liverpool, we speak Spanish in Barcelona and so does Saurez in case anybody doesn't know, plus there is better weather and the most obvious better looking women I should know since I live in England travel once a year to Barcelona
He's like Tevez, great player with crazy antics. For some reason I prefer someone with normal attitude.
