"I'm the manager of the most famous club in the world. I'm not at Newcastle, a wee club in the north-east. That's simply the facts of life." - SAF "It is a humongous club, for me one of the biggest in the world." - Daniel Sturridge (DS15)
I always thought a name a number combo like that was used when a player was ultra famous for his shirt number, kind of like the one name thing (Michael in basketball). Big Soccer Arsenal fans confused me on here when they started using TV - whatever number he is for Vermaelen. Thought they were talking about a television station at the time. Would've guessed Davide Santon dor the DS15 if backed into a corner as a response to the Fergie jibe.
Sorry if I might've come across as ripping into, or having a pop at you in my confusion by the way. Seriously didn't who you were referencing. Thanks for clearing it up.
Tallaght (rough spot in Dublin) in the 1980s? Of course, of course. Sure it was that game in Lansdowne Road that convinced 'England is the place for me'.
Now it's me who's not getting my message across. When he signed for Liverpool he said he supported them as a boy, when he signed for Celtic he said the same about them. It was a jokey extension of that.
Ah right, got you now - was only being sarcastic all the same. Not 100% but I think he said it for Spurs too. He did move to Wolves within a few months of the game though. Hhhhmmmm.....
And he was the funniest one, 20 m signing send back in 6 months, why it did not work 1) It was never Rafa signing 2) It maybe his signing but he needed Barry to work. Logic.
No, definitely wasn't Rafa's - he got rid of him even though it left them with nothing to back up Torres, who got hurt, and their title challenge then slipped away. It was beautiful. Shame how his career went after leaving Spurs though, he was very good with them and formed one of the best forward pairings in Europe for a year or two, with Berbatov.
'All' Berba? He was the better of the two, but ask Spurs fans and you might be surprised. There is a reason Defoe was a distant third choice - if it was a runner-poacher they wanted to partner Berbatov with, he would have been the guy. Referring to Keane as a 'poacher' is an... odd one. Unique though, I will give you that!
I rather not ask Tottenham fan after their opinions on Bale, from what I remember Berbatov impressing every time I saw and Keane was meh, Defoe was even less useless than he is now (okay limited) that is why they sold him to Portsmouth remember? Any decent striker with Berbatov on that form would have matched Keane numbers.
