Nice rendering of Orlando's dream of a new stadium and bid for MLS expansion team. http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/blog/2012/12/orlando-city-soccer-talks-more-about.html Also thought it interesting that Atlanta wants to mix use their new stadium with an MLS team. http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/architects-get-glimpse-of-stadium-plan/nTTTM/
This has been the plan since shithead Goddell was like, no new stadium, no SuperBowl. Asshole. McKay for Commissioner.
I really don't like my DC Council woman, Murial Bowser, but she has never been under federal investigation, unless EPA is looking into her for failure to use oxygen for any meaningful purpose.
If that were a possibility, it would be great for DCU to team with the city on it for fields as part of a permanent training facility...of permanent training facility as part of a complex of fields...with DCU offering considerable outreach activities for local youth. After all, DCU would use training fields at times when very few other people would be using them...
Actually, you're right: hers is a DCBOEE investigation, involving allegations that she diverted constituent services funds to political expenses.
A legit training facility for the team on the RFK site while DC couldn't get the Redskins headquartered on Reservation 13 would be funny.
Nice. And now in his wisdom (or perhaps lack of options), Council Chair Mendolson has appointed her to head the DC Council committee on economic development - giving her more authority to determine the stadium outcome. The article I read on WaPo (sorry - but am not able to track it down right now) speculated that she's given the chair as a sign of support for her to make a Mayoral run. Heaven help us all if that happens.

It's the end of the year and I'm waiting for my "Framework" Christmas present. It's gotta be one of the next 4 days...right? right?
yeah, with the communications department (amongst others) being fired, I doubt you hear anything about anything for a while.
true, but I got the impression they promoted him and gutted folks under him who did the actual communication, maybe not Since we haven't heard dick about anything they did or why since they did it, I can just assume any damn thing I want. They promised lots of exciting information in January, so here I am eagerly awaiting it
good point - I inferred it was this one, but they did not specifically state 2013. Those clever bastards!
Ryan Tronovitch, whom came to United last season, is the Comm guy who steps into Kyle Sheldon's role this upcoming season..
so this is on dcu.com: http://www.dcunited.com/news/2013/01/support-for-new-dc-united-stadium-ever-growing zzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz
Not total zzzzzz. One more columnist who's is publicaly in favor of United building the stadium at Buzzard Point provides a tiny bit more political cover for the D.C. government to negotiate an agreement. Far from an announcement but good ink is nothing to sneeze at.
Is she (or rather more specifically that position) an important figure in getting a stadium approved? Do you think it helps or harms the effort in any way?
I really don't know whether or not the committee has responsibility for something like a new stadium. But I can say that if we do get a stadium it will not be because of her competent assistance.
Perhaps "ever growing" refers to this post... and the numerous posts before this post with our endless optimism that something, somewhere will happen to get a deal done and shovels in dirt.
Since there's nothing new here... even the F.Cosmos have new plans out and somehow, the Indianapolis NASL team will make some changes to Carroll Stadium.
