Don't forget Zaha. Not sure out of these which I would want. I guess Turan. Turan then Zaha then Ba. I don't know too much about Lopez. However, aren't we looking for a Diaby/Song type? Or is that the player Wenger will sign and no one knows? I know he gets off on that.
I've learned my lesson in past transfer windows about getting too excited with all the speculation and rumoured names. For now, I assume we'll get a Cygan/Senderos month-long loan package and that's that!
We should be looking at Butland, I have a feeling we could regret not signing him. The problem is we still need experienced back-up so its not gonna work out with Szczesny in there
Some say that the problem is not AW per se but rather that he has not refreshed the coaches under him. I must say I am inclined to believe the very same when I get the feeling that the other team is about to score on the set piece they have just been awarded - then watch as they score. I wonder where we stand on defending set pieces in the EPL.
I can't see us getting a DM. Wenger has faith in Coq and I remember reading quotes from Wenger about how the game has changed and there is no need for a true destroyer in midfielder. Not to mention I think Wenger views a Wilshere,Ramsey, OX midfield for the future. I have a better feeling about us getting a wing type attacking player such as Zaha. Zaha fits everything Wenger looks for, not to mention he's British. Also Zaha is openly an Arsenal fan, so thats one big upper hand we have again that c*nt Sir Alex.
Yea, it's starting to be Zaha or bust for me. He has some pretty nasty tricks. That alone would be worth a lot in entertainment value. I don't know about his shooting ability, but he at least appears to have the necessary tools to be a great dribbler on the wing. And he probably still has a lot of upside at just 20 years old with no top flight experience. Get him now and he could be a 20-25M player in a couple years when we sell him to City. :-D
I just think it's funny that you're done overrating the England squad, but are still overrating England's young players. English keepers are shit, so why should we believe this kid isn't the next Paul Robinson, Ben Foster, Chris Kirkland, Rob Green, Scott Carson, or any of the other failures who were supposed to be England's next #1?
he is a hollywood goalkeeper that impresses people because he makes saves look more difficult than they were. Awful distribution too and he wilts under pressure. There is a reason why Fergie kicked him to the curb and why he went from future England #1 to not mentioned at all and then he "retired." Ive never seen a Butland, but I would rather have Sczezney over a 19/20 year old.
My memory might be failing but Paul Robinson was definitely the next big thing for a while and maybe Ben Foster too. Those others have definitely played for England under various circumstances but I don't think they ever were expected to lock down the position.
Foster doesn't Hollywood he just make a lot of saves in unconventional ways, easy ones and hard ones alike. His distribution is pretty bad though.
Rob Green was England's #1 at the World Cup, Kirkland and Carson both moved to Liverpool with big expectations. Foster was being groomed as ManU's future #1. All failed.
he had a better than 1 for 1 record for both man utd and england. his league record last season and this is very similar to szczesny's (i think it may actually be very slightly better). it's not a big leap off cech's or reina's either. overall his record isn't as good as hart or szczesny or cech or reina, but then again, anyone's would take a hit playing for watford and birmingham too.
Rob Green was Capello's clearest mistake if not his worst one. For Green, Kirkland or Carson, I don't ever remember anyone expecting that they would be playing the big games for England for a decade or more, a la Seaman or Joe Hart.
sounds like a hollywood keeper to me so then he isnt that good. Even though I dont rate Hart highly, he showed out at Birmingham.
he's a decent keeper, not brilliant, not shit. he's done little that's particularly wrong. it's as i've said plenty of times, don't get all excited by hype and then have a go at the player because you believed the hype. btw. you should probably start rating hart, because his stats so far are very good and that's not all purely down to the defence in front of him.
