Keel.. a finesse defender? His best attribute is throwing his body in front of shots.

Well shot blocking is a finesse move in a way---you've got to know what angle to take to block the ball. More skill than just booming the ball out of backfield.
Of course any good defender no matter if they are physical or finesse have to know when to just boom it out of there and when to go for the shot block:p:ROFLMAO:

Keel Finesse?....What it is a Dec 28 joke?.....
Keel the only he can move is the tuft of hair he have and this maybe is the cause why the ball and players hit hm so much, he can't see the ball and players on time to do something and that is why you say that he throw his body in front of the ball....

    Happy New Year everybody.........

Olave is many things (extreme, injury prone, long in tooth) but slow is not one of his problems. He was among the fastest players at RSL before he left.

Another rumor from the English press that I'm not buying. I think that's the third one this week. Dunne is actually a very quality player. He's played at the highest level for a long time now. He would have been great to have a few years ago but now the injury issues combined with the age make this undesirable. Plus the rumored salary here makes it seem like this is something that has been spun out of nothing.

I don't think we will be surprised to see Conde or Holgersson leave and have someone replace them but I don't think it will be Dunne. However I would like to see us stick with what we have at CB. The group we have now is a very solid one.

Wish we would see rumors about some improvements to our midfield.

Apparently the team is talking to Eric Wynalda about some sort of role (presumably not head coach). Was discussed on the EPL post-game with Grant Wahl. Anyone see it?

I'm not buying the Dunne deal (pun intended.) I think Holgersson is sticking around. He improved quite a bit in the second half of the season. I hope we keep our DP money in our pocket for a bit until after they sign a coach and the coach has seen the new team play a few months (even if it is preseason.)

For once, I'd like a coach and a sporting director to work together on building the team.

I think that is the general idea why they are holding new signing and cuts....Because Miller has to go and really I think that if they don't cut, trade or whatever Holgersson they will have to do it with Pearce, because RBNY will need the money for the new MF....

Such a bad offseason for being a ny metro area fan :( the jets have a disastrous season, the giants don't make the playoffs, the red bulls facing an uncertain future, and both the rangers and the devils are not playing due to the owner lockout. Dont even get me started on baseball....:thumbsdown::cry:

Hope the Red Bulls turn it around in the New Year.....

Something will happen, you can make you choice, my is Cooper, Pearce, Holgersson and miller....

Because RBNY will need a cool million to sign 5/6 new starters, period.....

Agree on these points. Holgersson won us over with his play late in the year.

And no way the Dunne thing happens at those wages. British tabloids do like to make shit up.

This hiring is taking entirely too long and every minute wasted by Houllier insisting on a European coach is hurting us. The guy doesn't know anything about MLS and should stay out of the way. He should take Roxburgh's advice and be done with it.

If we hire a European coach the day before the season starts I'm gonna light myself on fire and jump off a cliff.

Oh, and the part about Nicol not even being CONSIDERED? Idiocy.

The most important part of that article:

In other words the organization is dysfunctional and can't even agree on what they want--hence the reason why they haven't hired anyone.

The clown car show continues--for the sake of the fans I hope they hire someone with MLS experience, but we all know that's probably not happening...

On a related note: Could "Little Things" Reyna actually wind up being our head coach?

Why did Houllier even bother hiring Roxburgh and de Bontin if he's just gonna stonewall them anytime they disagree with what he wants...

So much for that idea----it would appear that Nicol was nowhere even near Red Bull's radar at any point--didn't even register as a blip.... Now I'm not a great Nicol fan, but i get the distinct impression that a coach could win 5 MLS Cups and he wouldn't get consideration unless he was personal friends with Houllier.

On that note, can we please just end this farce already and announce McAllister already? You know in the end that's what's going to happen--Houllier will say no to any other candidate cause he has already made up his mind that only his buddy will do. Let's just get the train wreck that will be the 2013 season under way...... We've got a draft to prepare for and plans for training camp to make.
