Late to the party, but hope everyone had a good Christmas despite the boxing day debacle.

Liverpool desk calendar on my desk at work is not quite the LB jacket level of present, but it was heart felt and I like the old photos of celebrations from years gone by.

My middle daughter turned 17 today ... my ole bones are creaking at the thought of it. After every match she asks me how Liverpool did, she defends them against ManU fans at school, she has NEVER seen them play live, and has never known a league title. But she reminded me at our birthday breakfast this morning that she "hates Man United" :D

The thought of having a 17 year-old daughter terrifies me. I just don't want to be that dad on the porch with a shotgun and a beer chasing away horny teenage boys. :(

    How do you manage?

Well, we are back. We just moved from South Africa back to Utah. Can't say i am pleased about it; not so much that I don't like Utah, i do, it's a lovely place, more that we were blissfully happy in South Africa. Business is just going to well and getting too busy here in SLC to not be in the head office more. I was spending so much time away from my family and that doesn't work for me so we moved back.

Anyway, it is snowing, cold and definitely not summer. :( As we got off the plane my youngest said with a rather large frown, 'Dad, did we seriously just move from summer to winter? It's like Stoke all over again'. That rather summed it up for me too.

Anyway, we're stateside again and we'll be right in a few days.

My brother in law is teaching English at Westminster College out in SLC and his wife is teaching at a new university there. They really enjoy living there.

We drove through SLC in the winter on our to the PNW when I was kid, so my sister could visit her best friend from K-town.

I want to spend a couple of weeks around the Four Corners visiting all of the national parks in that region. My intern from last summer did it w/ his family for their summer vacation. I was quite jealous.

One of my childhood friends was based out of Sandy for years. He quite liked the area.

We lived up in Park City for 5 years. some wonderful scenery around and we made the best of it. Trail riding, skiing, camping. Hard to beat.
Just keep out of SLC or you'll end up with that Mitt Romney mindset..;)

I had 2 of then go through the 17 year old phase and do you know what? The kids are alright

We used to have some long talks and I'd joke with them about the boys. "They can't take you out until they knock on the door and ask me.'
I'd have been pretty intimidating to a boy of 17-18 back then. :)
One thing we used to talk about is. Don't think of marriage until you're 29 and travel. They had their boyfriends and they travelled, neither married until they were 35. Well ballanced fun kids with no silly hangups.
Don't ban them from boyfriends or you'll end up the enemy, just make reasonable rules based on respect.

I had two as well and did it much the same, although I wouldn't have been as intimidating as US. We always felt if you raised them right they will make good choices when you aren't around.

Naw, sex and music didn't start until the late 50's.
Music ended when the Beatles broke up. I'll let you know about the sex.

Got to go back to school this week. I need 30 hours of class time and exams in Real Estate Law to keep my license up. I really didn't like school 60 years ago, I like it even less now that I know everything.
I can and will do it on line but it's still a drag. Bummer.

Speaking of school, I've complied with my math and science requirements so now I don't have to deal with those two demons (school-wise) for the rest of my life.

Anyone here into investments, stock trading and stuff like that?

I am asking because I am interested in doing some investing and was looking for a good forum to get advice and feedback from. Looking for a forum populated by experts, professionals and active investors. Any suggestions?

    Just throwing this out there....

I am holding my February board meeting at Anfield and we're going to the Feb 23 game against Swansea. The evening before we are having a legends dinner with Phil Neal and a couple of other retired players (legends as they call them) - as yet undecided - who will speak a little about the club and then just hang out with us for the evening and a great 5 course meal with drinks. Then on the game day we have 30 odd seats, the executive package with meal, snacks and tea at half time, then sandwiches afterwards with lots of the wicked juice at hand for those that do.

I have invited my board members to bring their wives and of course my wife and kids will be there along with some family, but I will still have 6 spaces spare for the package. So if someone fancies it then you are welcome to attend the dinner, match and the tour of Liverpool (Beatles museum, Yellow Duck Marine, etc.) with us for free. Obviously the flight and hotel would be yours to look after but no cost for the dinner, match, tour and the drinks.

Just a thought... let me know if you are up for it.
