Didn't see anything for this so I'm starting it. Rumors are we are in for Sneijder. Don't know where he would play tho.... http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/1...o-sign-inter-milan-playmaker-wesley-sneijder/
he would play centrally behind the striker like VdV, or in CM as Modder's replacement. But he's probably the most expensive replacement, salary wise, that they could possibly go after. Also, considering the lack of quotes, or even references to anyone who might know something, I'd say it's purely made up. And if it were true, and Tottenham were willing to pay his transfer fee and his 220k euro/week salary, what kind of message would that send to other key players like Bale who makes a third of that? That said, I would still be overjoyed if this happened. But it wont.
His natural place would be behind our striker, which doesn't solve anything about our lack of a creative CM
the best place would be behind the striker (where there's currently a problem anyway since Dempsey can`t play like a midfielder) but he could also play CM and do a far better job than the likes of THudd. His specialty is giving perfect passes to runners. With Defoe, Lennon, Bale and Dembele ahead of him, the attack would be pretty unstoppable with him feeding it. Put Sandro or Parker beside him and hold a high line, and the problems are solved (except for the depth problem). But like I said, there`s no way Tottenham can afford his wages.
I agree, perhaps VDV can haggle him down for us I think Moutinho is still our #1 priority period. We need another striker and wide player as well. CB would be nice but it's not critical with half our team coming back from injury
Sneijder's current wages are 3x our wage ceiling +/- and he's kind of a luxury player. Llorente would only move as a pre-contract agreement since both player and club are trying to screw each other as hard as possible. Negredo a more likely target. Atsu might be a real possibility, which they would justify by selling Rose to Sunderland. Eriksen I dont see happening in January but for him and Alderweireld to come in the summer would be fantastic. Just remember last year Harry asked for Tevez and Cahill and ended up getting Saha and Nelson. Assuming reports are correct that we have a roughly £20m budget for this window plus anything we scrounge up (that 5m for Rose, Bentley and Jenas, were anyone to want them), would it be wiser to spend it all in one place on Moutinho or buy a few squad players, maybe with high resale potential? Something to consider, with the crowded FA Cup/Europa League English-weeks to come.
I doubt very much that Eriksen will move before the summer. Also: http://www.football365.com/news/215...hristian-Eriksen-plays-down-link-to-Tottenham On the Tottenham reports, Eriksen said: "I have read that, but it is just a rumour. "It also depends on what Ajax want, but I hope and believe that I will finish the season at Ajax. "One day I will take that step, but I don't know when. Of course, it also depends on which clubs are interested at that time." Which remains consistent with what he's always said. The kid seems to have his head screwed on straight
I heard Adam Maher to us, although also some talk that Maher would replace Eriksson at Ajax. Moutinho still being mentioned, but after Porto got a massive fee for Hulk and are still in CL, doesn't seem logical as a January transfer.
But that kind of attitude you showed previous transfer window will get you nowhere. So be ready to pay €35M and deal's done, maybe not this winter but definitely at summer if Willian would want to go at THFC.
Cudicini on his way out, apparently two more to go as well, and apparently maybe someone high value to allow more money for AVB's targets.
I wonder who that could be? Players of value that weren't just aquired (IMO): Bale Kaboul Sandro Lennon Parker (to an English team) The only one of those that I would consider letting go this window is Parker IF a good enough offer comes in, simply because of his age and the fact that it's his position that they need to upgrade, so he'll likely drop down the pecking order
I don't really think we need to sell to buy. We should still have Moutinho money. The only player we can sell is Gomes. With Parker back, we can send Livermore out on loan.
could it be real: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...urs-dutchman-set-for-move-from-inter-to-spurs
If the fee is all that has to be decided on, and they want 12m, then it should go through unless levy wants to stall till the end of the window. But I still find it hard to believe that someone with wages as high as his has agreed to a deal w/ Tottenham already. Will be great if it happens though. Great for Tottenham, great for Sneijder, and great for Oranje.
I find it extremely difficult to believe, given Sneijder's salary at Inter is 6 million euros net of tax- that's 12 million euros in the UK given the 50% top tax rate, i.e. about £170k a week. I remember in the summer Inter were desperately linking unwanted players to us - Julio Cesar in particular, even though there was absolutely no way we were going to bother. I won't hold my breath.
I'm slightly inclined to agree. While I don't have a very hard time seeing him take a pay cut to play where he wants to, I do have a hard time believing that he would take a ~65% pay cut, and that Tottenham is the team that he would take that kind of a cut to play for, no matter how much his best friend Rafa talked the place up to him. Then again, if the only other teams interested are boring oil giants, I could see him having not much of a choice. At this point, sitting on the bench at Inter collecting his pay check isn't much of an option for him if he wants to keep his spot in the NT (and he very much does). The only other teams I've heard linked to him are oil giants and teams that don't need him because they have plenty of AM options. Tottenham can offer him as many minutes as he can handle, quality team mates, and a lot of the ball. Also, he would be the main man (along with Bale) and wouldn't have to worry about being benched. Imagine the quality of a middle/left side of BAE, Vertonghen, Dembele, Sneijder, and Bale. Basically, we'll have to see what happens. It's a rumor that could easily be rubbish, but given the unique situation, anything is possible.
Cudicini to the Galaxy. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...nk-tottenham-goalkeper-cudicini-free-transfer
Rarely stood in the spotlight but he when he did, he was fine back up for us. He gave me more confidence than Gomes, that's for sure. Best of luck to him with the Gals. I'll never forget the save he made on an Inter free kick, just outside the box that was the difference between going into halftime with our heads down or going in with the confidence that we used to beat them that night. Coincidentally, that free kick was taken by Sneijder if I recall correctly...
