Well, last match of the year. Please "Robbie" don't let us lose this one. QPR aren't having a great season and for this week I'd like us help them keep it this way. Seems like Buck needs a few fresh ideas, I'm sure you guys can help as well as give results...???!!! Just don't go looking for the match on the Sat 29th, that was my old schedule. It's Sunday the 30th. click on the photo for a larger view.
I'd really like to think tonight was a real aberration for Dagger - he's been a rock on plenty of occasions for us.
Defensively, he's never been that solid. But, I've never seen him exposed so bad in a game before. 3 times he got beat for goals! 3 times! The first goal. Someone remarked he "won" that header? Nope, the ball went backwards over his head, ffs!
Part of me thinks that Skrtel isn't the right complement for him or vice versa. They're both in between between quick and big, so anyone especially quick or big seems to give them fits.
Tactically, our number is out. Press us hard and all over and we fold and ship goals. Let us breathe a bit, and by golly we'll tonk you. There is an in-between, though, witnessed in glimpses against West Ham and Everton where we can actually roll our sleeves and graft. That's what required in this period. But for that to happen, we must expect others besides Suarez to be contributing goals and to making something happen. A rest for a few players in this match, to freshen minds and legs, wouldn't be any worse surely?
Let's see how we bounce back. Harry F'in Redknapp has a good recent history against us. Will his egotistical players be willing to listen to his instructions?
And maybe a Barca game or two to see how players deal with receiving and passing the ball under pressure.
You give old 'arry too much credit. That said, this fixture last season still pisses me off when I think about it and may have been the straw to break our back.
I wonder if Robert Green will start. He was horrid on boxing day. If we can manage to actually put a shot on target I imagine we'll score.
Are you forgetting opposition keepers that were either, a) Making mistakes in previous games before playing liverpool b) Rookie keepers c) 2nd or 3rd choice keeper brought from the reserves All have the best games of their careers when they then happen to play us?
We will win and from 1st January 2013 our fortunes will change for the better and we will have a fantastic second half of the season.
Bottom line. These guys have absolutely nothing in the world to lose. They'll look a the latest losses of ours, watch where we came undone by other clubs and do their best to do the same. We know that and I hope BR may have thought about it a little. We have to score and I don't mean our usual one then try and defend it. We have to score early and often. Strange concept I know, If they're stretched trying to play catch up, then that's what we want. Nervous? Why should I be nervous?!
