http://diez.hn/Inicio/Ediciones/201...Peralta-por-el-Toronto-de-la-MLS#.UNyg08UQZ2A According to the article, its basically a done deal.. Toronto have been negotiating his transfer to BMO Field for six months now and will fly to Toronto to confirm everything (signing papers, etc.) in the next couple of days. I think yall may have won a lottery with this one.
No doubt that if this pans out he will be subjected to endless comparisons with Amado Guevara. Any similarities of course would be quite welcome.
two very different players. Arnold is a Defensive Mid, but has been playing Right Back for the National Team. At Vida his club, he plays holding mid or center mid, while on the Olympic team he played Central Mid for the beginning of the campaign, before being moved to Right Back permanently in London. He was the one guarding Neymar all game on the right hand side and Spain aswell. He also plays Right Back for the Honduran National Team.. as you saw against Canada, Panama and Cuba.
Well this is interesting....at the very least he should be good depth. We desperately need reinforcements in midfield and if he plays at RB it'll be interesting to see what happens to Ecks in 2013. It's great that we're using the central american - and more specificaly, Honduran - market, and if the Guevara-as-scout rumors are true, he's already helping us (even if we've allegedly been watching Peralta for months, I wouldn;t be surpised if Guevara's influence, if it's there at all, help seal this. Looks promising so far...
If Arnold Peralta started for Honduras in the Olympics and World Cup qualifiers then he would definitely start for TFC to be sure. I thought he was an attacking midfielder, but from what you say he's a defensive midfielder who can play with Torsten Frings. We need all the quality players we can get. Plus he was effective in marking Neymar, who will be a world class player in the future. We don't know much about Arnold Peralta. Tell us more. What's his style like? I guess he's more technical , which we need. Thanks for the insight Catracho Azul.
From what I've seen in person... He's can win the ball back, very fast, likes to use his pace in the middle.. his passing can be suspicious sometimes, but for the most part he can be a solid player who can link an defense to an attacking player. He plays better then a partner though...great player to counter-attack with. Honestly, you'd have to see him in training to really get a feel of how he plays. But as you said, if he can keep Neymar pretty quiet, then he has a pretty good potential to be a very important player.
http://www.diez.hn/Inicio/Ediciones...das-las-ganas-de-irme-al-Toronto#.UNzgfsUQZ2B El Caracol Peralta glad to be moving to Toronto
I hope he works out. TFC need quality players like him. TFC also need some creativity and flare. They play boring football. Question to Catracho Azul: Do you know of any more players TFC should pursue? More attacking midfield or wide players. Who can break down left/right backs? Thanks
Alex Lopez comes to mind.. but he'll beat you his pass.. can control the pace of a game.. I think he has the potential to be better than El Lobo Guevara. Another player that comes to mind is Junior Lacayo, but he's 17.... Very quick and technical.. full of pace and isn't scared to take on his opponents 1v1.. he'll be playing en El Copa CentroAmericana with the NT next month. Ronald Martinez de Motagua, who took over Guevara's job at Motagua, but has been sooo injury prone lately, if he can stay healthy for a season, he'll be a hot commodity. Alex Oviedo of Real Espana.. he's a player who everyone in Honduras was keen on.. He single handedly put Atletico Choloma on his back into the liguilla.. great runs with the ball, opened up the field.. great vision. Almost a Chicago Fire player, but ultimately joined Real Espana.
Based on the way Mariner consistently plays people out of their natural position, I don't think we'd be able to draw any conclusions on where he is likely to be played or who is likely to be forced out of the starting lineup.
So he plays CM, and can fill in at RB? Awesome, I can't wait to see Mariner pair him with Ecks at CB. My just for fun bet is that Mariner fields this lineup (or something as ridiculous) at some point: FreiHall - Ecks - Peralta - EmoryWeideman - O'Dea - Dunfield - MorganstrikersDon't put it past him to do it... ...I sure as hell hope he doesn't read these forums. Because he might get an idea from this post that I don't want him to get
Hey, in the third paragraph he says something about leaving so that his teammates can get paid. Is his club selling him because they're bankcrupt? Is there anyone else on that team who TFC should be intersted in/looking to buy?
I don't think the team is going bankrupt, but they do have problems paying the salary of their players, especially Arnold's whose is the highest on the team. Happens every season with Vida and they somehow end up paying it back. Idk, rumors are that Vida should be getting striker, Rommel Quioto, back from Polish side Wisla Krakow. Maybe he might be somebody worth looking at. They say he might be our next hope at striker for the National side.. scored the header against Mexico in the CONCACAF U-23 final and also has already starred for Wisla in multiple games. I think they want him to return in June though idk for sure. Also theres Orlin Peralta(no relation with Arnold), he's a leftback/wing who played on the Olympic team and has already been on the National team aswell. Aside from those two, I think the rest would be project players. Like 19 yr old defender, Rodolfo Espinal, who is a promising prospect, 21 yr old rightback, Chestyn Onofre will be a player to look out for, Leonardo Benedith and Sholbin Martinez are two players who had a promising season out of nowhere and will probably be in the radar of some of the bigger clubs this coming apertura.
Interesting, I'd love to see that confirmed. Apparently, if one were to believe the folks determined to assert that no good can come from anything initiated by Mariner or Cochrane, Kevin Payne can time travel.
I'm curious as to what his pay packet will be, especially if he's looked at in the holding mid position.
lol, after we signed two internationals in center defense at the beginning of this year, and both were complete busts, I don't completely trust any int'l player who comes to this club until they actually play for us. TFC has made me very paranoid. But since Peralta is actually a regular for Honduras, unlike the two CB's who I think only had about three caps between them, I doubt he'll be a bust like those two. Like I said, even if Peralta struggles he'll still, in the worst case scenario, be a good depth option (sort of like Mario Martinez in Seattle). And if he fits in well, he'll be a lock in the starting XI no question.
My understanding was that he was a regular on their U23/Olympic team but has had very limited appearances for their senior team, no? We'll see if the deal is for real and what he can do once he gets here.
Arnold Peralta has been the undisputed rightback on the NT after the away game in Cuba. I think he'll be in the Copa CentroAmericana coming up in January.
TFC are also interested in signing attacking midfielder Alex Lopez: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_López El Canterano @ElCanteranoHN Toronto FC interesados en Alexander López del Olimpia. #MLS #Honduras https://twitter.com/ElCanteranoHN Also surprisingly mentioned in the third paragraph on TFC website: Players whose names have been lobbed about as worth watching include Louisville midfielder Andrew Farrell, Creighton midfielder Jose Gomez, Mikey Lopez of the University of North Carolina and Honduran national Alex Lopez. http://www.torontofc.ca/news/2013/01/superdraft-decisions-loom
Yup.. just reported this morning on diez.hn. http://diez.hn/Inicio/Ediciones/201...-tiene-en-su-agenda-a-Alex-Lopez#.UORv8cUQZ2A Payne says Alex Lopez is going to be a priority signing. He's next on the agenda.. This should be interesting, I know Olimpia and their owner, Ferrari, will be asking for a pretty penny.
Hi Catracho Azul, I know Alex Lopez will cost a pretty penny. Can you find out his contract status? How many years does he have with Olympia? Could be a factor in the cost of a possible transfer. Thanks
iirc, his contract still has two more years on it. Olimpia isn't in a hurry to sell, nor is Alex anxious of leaving yet. I heard talks of extending his contract after this season. Yes this would affect the cost of his transfer fee. Ricardo Ferrari is a merchant scumbag.. he's all about dem benjamins $$$
Hi Catracho Azul, It seems Arnold Peralta has decide not to sign with TFC. It was pretty much done. What the hell happened? https://twitter.com/cdsvida/status/289097084932599808 https://twitter.com/search/realtime?q=Arnold+Peralta&src=typd
