(I didn't see this posted here, so forgive me if I'm repeating) MLSsoccer.com's "Best of" list has the Stanford game as the best game of the year: http://www.mlssoccer.com/bestof/2012/news/article/2012/12/16/best-2012-quakes-win-stanford-game-year I think anyone who watched the game, especially those who attended, would agree it was certainly worthy. Proud of the team, the FO, and fans!
That was such a tremendous game in so many ways. I still hear non-Quakes fans talking about it. And a lot of times when I'm wearing Quakes gear someone will come up and say "I was at that game" (maybe they don't realize there were 30+ other games!)
Vote early and vote often, guys! Different computers and incognito windows and friends' computers and GO QUAKES!
I beg to differ. The whole package - from the huge crowd, the electric atmosphere, the tifo, the soccer, the back and forth nature of the game, the Quakes massive comeback, the Becks free kick, the "shows" - sky diving, halftime show / presentation, fireworks - it was one for the ages. I don't care if it was a regular season game or not.
I'm not bringing this up again for the sake of it, I just posted it because it was voted on MLS' official website as the game of the year, and I thought it would be neat to share that recognition with fellow Quakes fans. Sheesh. Remind me to never share news I see again. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for sharing. I didn't see it until you posted. Your Christmas present to me! I feel bad I didn't get you a thing I had a really hard time with how the season ended. This helps and I think I may finally be able to go back re-watch that last playoff game
Tell that to the Scum fans who were so tired of feeling entitled, they tried a little misery on for size: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/worst-game-in-the-history-of-the-franchise.1979645 The Palo Alto game is featured heavily in that thread. Edit: Crap, Mark is right, I mixed up the games... (this one is not in there)
I was glad to see the Quakes win and had a great time attending the game. Hearing Bruce Arena say afterwards that most of the crowd was there to see Beckham, kind of made me puke. To tell the honest truth, I am happy at where the league is right now and if Beckham had any part of it, I want to thank him. I also want to thank the Lord he is out of MLS because I'm sick and tired of this fanboy and all the crap he brings. Aside for the occasional free kick goal (of which I saw maybe 2 or maybe 3 in 6 years), I've yet seen a match where I can remember him making a play that I can remember. I for one am glad he is gone! Bye Bye!
Actually, the Stanferd game is not mentioned in that thread at all. They are mostly whinging about the 2003 5-2 thrashing they took at Spartan, and the '09 Cup loss to the Salt Lickers. Nothing about the Stanferd game, at least not when I looked earlier. But thanks for the link. I love to feel their pain! GO QUAKES!!!!! F#$% el-lay!!! - Mark
