Nice Pepe header -> Saved by newest best GK in the world Halftime: What was learned: Changing the GK doesn't put more goals in the net.
Only when Sara Carbonero is on the sideline. BTW... why was Iker sniffing his finger while on the bench???
Not a bad first half. The defence is awake so far and so Adan has had nothing to do. We seem to be pressing more on the opposition when they have the ball which is nice to see. We just have to make more of the ball when in the attacking third because so far we have not really tested the GK. I wish Ozil would shoot more rather than just looking for the pass.
Oh, we've tested him, he has just made three key stops. Add that with a crap Cristiano and Di Maria finish and you have what we have here.
I was thinking the same thing. Iker has long been the insurance policy and the defense will need to step it up to save their own hides.
There has been plenty to criticize that has not been related to lineup/tactical decisions so people interpret it as personal.
I say Iker on for Benzema, Iker scores a hattrick, and goes to hug Jose after every goal.... we go on to win the CL, and everyone lives happily ever after.
So you think Cristiano should have benched after making his I'm sad comments and causing a huge distraction. I thought at the time the Ronaldo defense was "as long as he performing on the pitch nothing else should matter" or something along those lines. Just bringing it real for all I know Iker asked for the night off.
If it is against team rules and regulations to say that then yes, he should have been. Again, I will re-state before the attacks resume, I don't know what Iker could have done and I don't like that he was benched.
I don't mind Iker being benched. This way we can see if the whole "nobody is bigger than the club, Real Madrid!" stuff is for real, because judging from the press, that doesn't seem to apply to Iker.
The talk this far has been about two things: an alleged lack of effort in training and Mourinho preferring the bigger/taller Adan for set piece situations. We'll see if the 'black sheep' scenario comes into play as well.
There is a problem, there is power play behind the scenes but I refuse to believe that the man is not genuine. Maybe it's not undying madridista love that's his fuel, but I do believe that he wants the team to succeed above all else.
The economy did tank, didn't improve much in four years, and the Pesident was re-elected. What's your point?
