This thread is completely selfish. I refuse to follow Twitter, but it seems like the best way to get up to date Rapids info these days is via Twitter. Seemed like we should have a thread where useful bits of info can be posted.

I joined Twitter JUST for sports. Its been worth it so far.

Also, I've taken to calling Hinchey's Tweets "Hweets".

You can also just bookmark the URL for various people's accounts if you want to check now and again. Otherwise, I assume Jason will update the board in good time. :)

    E.g., Hinchey's twitter account: https://twitter.com/tkhinchey3

Can we rename the thread, "Sh*t my GM says."

With a little work you can dump twitter feeds into your RSS reader and see them without ever signing up or visiting Twitter. Which is what I do. ;)

    How do RSS feeds/readers work?

I use Google Reader, which is an on-line reader accessible to anyone with a Google account. You can also get local readers that go on-line and download everything to your computer. In either case the Reader will have a subscribe button where you put in a URL to a RSS feed. RSS feeds on a page are usually denoted with this symbol:

Copy the link, put it in the subscribe box that pops up, and every so often (not sure how often for Google Reader) the RSS reader looks at the feed and grabs anything new from it to list in the reader. Depending on how the specific site has their feed set up sometimes the whole article comes down, sometimes its just a header you click on to take you to the full article on the site.

Twitter is a little more difficult because they try to make everyone go through their site, but they know they have to leave something. I'm not going to try to explain ti here, but if you Google for Twitter RSS feeds there are plenty of pages for them.

Yeah, I was just fiddling with it, I think I figured it out. I was confused, it looked like all it was doing was bookmarking the website like normal; I just looked at the bottom and saw the "ticker". Also, is there a way to RSS "topics" and not just websites?

I had to stop following Hinchey on twitter. Too much personal stuff that I don't care about at all plus that "#OneClub" nonsense drives me nuts. I'll hear about anything I care about on here eventually.

No, I mean a broad topic like, say, soccer (not that I would, way too vague, but you get what I'm saying). I want it to go out to the internet and bring me stories relevant to a certain topic. Doesn't matter now, I seem to have broken RSS; the ticker disappeared and I can't get it back.

Well I don't know how you broke it, but as far as I know there's no way to do that anyway. ;)

Seems like Timmy is over-due on either Rapids or Hex game here?
