The pace of MLS is a lot slower then the most European leagues, so it's his only chance to make some money. Two grizzled veterans on one team may be one too many. Bad for NY, good for us. Let's stick to the plan.

It is slower no doubt, but for a 37 going on 38(in January) year old, its gonna be quite an adjustment.

It's still a faster pace of play than typically the case in Brazil, where he's been playing.

That's pretty rich, coming from one of the worst signings in the history of the league.

He's nothing but a punk and a shadow of his former self during his Barca days.

Oh yeah, SKC will unveil Claudio Bieler as their DP signing tomorrow(doesn't state Claudio exactly on the status, but it's quite obvious):

They made Bieler official today. He was part of that LDU team that beat Fluminense in the Libertadores final a few years ago. Not bad.

But with him and Fielhaber, they seem likely to be slower than last year. We'll see if they can play the same high-pressure game with this off-season's changes (of course, they may not be done making moves yet).

Had no idea where to put this but the Daily Wiz, sister site to DynamoTheory, has a great look at the SuperDraft from '07-present. I don't agree with all their conclusions on a few players but it is spot on overall and raises a few questions about how teams have handled the draft.

    Picks 1-10
    11-20

That's a helluva group of players to add to one team, all with the 7th pick. Damn.

Of note for us: We've had 4 Top 20 picks since 2007:

John Michael Hayden (Class of 07)
    Kofi Sarkodie (Class of 11)
    Will Bruin (Class of 11)
    Colin Rolfe (Class of 12)

FCD has signed 2 HG players this off-season. What do the Dynamo have? Ibeagha is finishing out school, but when he is done I wonder if he will sign here. Who else to we have coming that has any potential?

Also I don't have my notes in front of me, but FC Dallas cut a couple of the HG they promoted. When it comes down to it, it's been the Dynamo that has sent players off to Europe (1 sold, 2 free bit should of been sold). I will take that success over HGs.

Technically we haven't sent any HG players to EuroLand, but your point is on target. Quality over Quantity.

But haven't we had 5 players head over there (potentially 6 with Andre)?
Holden, Jaqua, R Clark, Ngwenya, Cameron.

So that'd be 3 players developed here with 1 being a "Homegrown" player (potentially, had it been around).

Lindpere to Chicago. All of a sudden Chicago is looking very formidable on paper. NY just lost it's heart and soul, God know what the heck they are going over there.

Going into the Draft without a coach. SOP for them not to care but you never know...

And they may be about to hire Paulo Sousa as head coach, with Claudio Reyna as an assistant. Give RBNY credit for keeping things interesting.

Montreal Impact have apparently appointed an experienced Swiss coach, Marco Schällibaum, as their new head coach. I know nothing about him beyond what's in their press release, but they were apparently looking for someone who could communicate effectively in French and English. The ä is also cool. :D

There'll definitely be some new ideas in the league next year with these new foreign coaches at RBNY, Chivas, and Montreal. And then there's Porter in Portland.

And Italian, apparently the Serie A and B Pre-Retirement destination of choice seems to be Montreal of all places.

Indeed. It may also be the case that Saputo thinks he needs an experienced, older coach to deal with all the Italian veterans. Marsch will be a very good MLS coach, but he's young and inexperienced. So I wonder if he had a good working relationship with the Italian retirement club.

So TFC fires Mariner and hires Ryan Nelsen as head coach. Mariner seemed to me like he earned a full season, but everyone seems to think very highly of Nelsen. So, well, ok, I guess. But then they announce that Nelsen is still going to keep playing for QPR and aren't sure when he'll take over. Maybe that's what they think of as a "player-manager". ;)

TFC is a terrible organization. They just can't get a plan together.
