I just checked the Union website and noticed that Sebastian Le Toux was given the no. 11 shirt that Freddy Adu normally wears, and Adu doesnt have a number listed...interesting! Jeff Parke took Christian Hernandez's no. 31, and Hernandez also doesnt have a new number listed.
Does not mean anything... Players switch numbers all the time. Are you also concluding that Hernandez is gone? Perhaps Freddy will be wearing 10?
My guess this is probably means it more likely that Freddy would stay. Why give away negotiating leverage by making it look like Adu has one foot out the door. I wonder what number Conor Casey will be wearing this year.
I think we should have gone with a 9 theme up front. Jack 9, Casey 19, and Le Toux 99. We could have called them "The Nasty Nines". Similar to how the Flyers had "The Crazy Eights".
Cause your the Union FO thats why. Unless Freddy decided to be really kind I think this spells doom for him. He is one of thos players that is marketed by his Jersey number.
No way that Adu gives up that number; his ego is too big. Seems clear that he's on his way out. But who would take him? He's still under contract.
Well it appears as if we have a glut of players who have now worn #9. Casey was #9 with the Rapids. Adu was also #9 for DCU. Jack wears it for now, but his #19 is still open. I figured he was going to be forced to give it up for the Union #9 Le Toux. At the moment there are several numbers open: 6, 10, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 27, 30 and everything above 33, with the exception of Cruz' #44. Maybe the U goes crazy and gives Casey #99!?
Maybe Adu wants to wear the #10 shirt? Last season Jack Mac, Torres and Valdes changed jersey numbers. This seems much Adu about nothing at all.
Fwiw, he dropped the "11" from his Twitter account a few weeks ago, changing it from @FreddyAdu11 to freddyadu. (Who knows if that, or this, actually means anything. Personally, while some may feel otherwise, I'm just looking forward to seeing Seba on the field again for the Union, whatever his # is, whether Freddy's here or not.)
He's going to Gala. I just want to say it was great talking to you guys. You were diehard fans of your team and you want the best for the Union. I hope you have a great upcoming season.
Alright maybe not the worst. The enlarge your junk thread was probably worse. Thanks. Democracy in action!
He wore #20 in year ZOLO, but switched to #8 prior to the 2011 season. I was mistaken, I thought he switched prior to this season.
