Great website with all 54 college players invited to the MLS combine http://pressbox.mlssoccer.com/content/54-college-seniors-invited-2013-adidas-mls-player-combine Chivas USA only gets the #2 pick in the first round http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_MLS_SuperDraft 4 picks in the Supplemental Draft:#2- #21 -#40 - #59 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_MLS_Supplemental_Draft
http://www.cdchivasusa.com/news/201...timbers-trade-position-mls-allocation-ranking I doubt Portland will obtain a second-round pick prior to the draft. It's more likely that Chivas USA will acquire a international roster slot and use it.
Honestly, I think we need to get a 10, so if I was Chelis, I would go after Carlos Alvarez. According to the ranking of the 19 propsects, he is the best midfielder, and they say he has "a playmaker's brain." Anyone agree with me???
Mock Draft over at topdrawersoccer: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/2013-mls-superdraft-mock-draft-v-20_aid28251 Has us picking up MF Jose Gomez from Creighton.
MLS put out some Mock Drafts as well: http://www.mlssoccer.com/superdraft...occercoms-2013-mock-draft-pre-combine-edition Has us drafting either: Carlos Alvarez (MF)ConnecticutChelís and Chivas USA announce their intentions to the rest of the league by drafting the son of a former Chivas Guadalajara player with Mexican blood. It's their only pick of the SuperDraft: Mission accomplished. or Mikey Lopez (MF)North Carolina / GAProbably isn’t the second-best talent in this draft, but he’s the first-best Mexican-American, which means he fits Vergara's reimagined Chivas. Some have Lopez pegged as the next Chris Armas, but he didn’t show quite that much bite in college. or Mikey Lopez (MF) North Carolina / GAAndrew Farrell is the obvious choice here for Chivas – he even speaks Spanish – but hey, it's Chivas … let's mix things up. My real bet is on a trade of this pick for allocation money and an international roster spot.
That would be funny if we only drafted players of Mexican descent or if we drafted based on Borg's suggestion. LMAO!
welcome to VergaraLandia- I just hope it works for this team we need Chelis at least 2 years to really make an impact on the hole structure ….. but knowing George wont be surprised if we end the season with a different coach … like the Mexican says “ Iris guat Riris” at the end of the day it is his team
Troopers, In my humble opinion, I think we should shock the MLS by drafting WALKER ZIMMERMAN, provided he is available. I've seen this kid's game and he would add what we've been missing for far too long, a tough, physical defender with better than average passing skills. I trully believe that he could instantly become the cornerstone of our back line, and not to mention, he could add another dimension to our limited attacking options on set pieces as long as our current players learn how to send decent lobs because I am sick and tired of watching every corner kick or set piece situation turn into a giveaway. They should also trade or maneuver to acquire another !st round pick in order to get either Zavaleta or Alvarez. Mexican indentity? I think that the needs of our beloved goats are a priority over a player's nationality. Your Commander.
Chivas USA@cdchivasusa #MLSCombine kicks off today at 11am in Ft. Lauderdale and @ElChelis is on site. What players do you recommend him to watch for? Chelis response Chelis comment. The more this man speaks the more i'm starting to dislike him.
Let me ask you this, if we were to be winning the league in a few months with the way Chelis is planning to run our team, would you dislike him then?
The voice of reason from El Commandante! Stick to what is good for sporting interests of THIS club. It is one thing to value traditions and use a certain club's playing style as a form of inspiration. We can all accept that. What cannot be accepted is a policy that promotes ethnic discrimination and nationalistic division under the ruse of sporting tradition. Adding to it, why on earth would any of you truly want to support a club that claims to be major league on game day, but is truly here just to develop players and send them off to either Tapatio or GDL. I for one am not in this to be a minor league affiliate to Tapatio.
In the future maybe they play in Mexico? F*ck that! We have been terrible for years and now we are being demoted to a feeder team? I have been a hardcore fan since 08 but they are starting to lose me.
http://www.mlssoccer.com/superdraft...rdraft-ga-prospect-lopez-i-want-go-chivas-usa Well this is a 1st. It looks like it will be between Alvarez and Lopez unless Chivas USA figures out a way to get both players. Would anyone be surprised if we traded for Luis Silva? Dan Kennedy?
