Has Magee resigned? I heard he was out of contract after the 2012 season.

This ^^^ is exactly why we need an upgrade at GK. I understand the arguments for shaky play before and for awhile after his rehab, and for the issues when Lopes was creating havoc in front of him. But come playoff time he should have been at his best but he was far from it.

I thought there were at least 3 playoff games where he made a significant mistake that cost us a goal. And some, like letting the ball roll under him against SJ in stoppage time were gut wrenchers. We were just fortunate that our firepower was in unbelievable form so we were able to overcome his gaffes. But in general you usually can't have gk mistakes and win playoff games.

And I wouldn't put him in the top 10 keepers in the league.

Look I like the guy and I think he would be a good backup keeper for us. Or possibly he will surprise me and play a lot better next year if we stick with him, but the odds are against it.

And Perks is in no way an acceptable backup. Start with the fact that he is short and unlike Rimando doesn't have catlike reflexes or great leaping ability. As a result his "area of coverage" of the goalmouth is limited. He is a decent backup reserve team keeper IMO.

This signing came four months too late for me. I wish he was in there for all those CCL games, and started the Vancouver playoff game. Had he, and Jimenez was on the bench, that Vancouver goal would of never accrued. We all most got knocked out of the playoffs, at home, against Vancouver because we didn't have an adequate RB replacement for Franklin.

“It is a dream come true to join a club like the Galaxy, a team I have been a fan of since I was kid,” Sorto said. “Growing up watching players like Mauricio Cienfuegos and Cobi Jones win championships motivated me to become a professional. I am very happy to now be able to represent my hometown like they did.”

And America's first wave of pros who grew up watching MLS, has arrived.

Wow this quote is more powerful than that kid could have imagined. Finally kids are coming in who grew up with the Galaxy.

Next stage is to start having major movement inside the league of the Galaxy buying all the top players because of our pedigree and likelihood of winning titles.

He was a favourite at the Bridge because he was always a solid keeper and a humble man. He was heir to Ed "I've got a porn-stache" De Goey and was a bargain buy at 160k. Played well for us for a few seasons (including winning our POTY in 01/02 IIRC) and always well liked by the fans.

But when the big money came in it was natural that Cech was first choice (rightly so of course). We often felt he was the best 2nd keeper in the league and possibly a top ten keeper in the league. Was happy for him that he finally got another chance later in his career but thoroughly grateful that we always had him as an option.

Would love for him to come to the HDC!

I don't think Oscar was quite ready for that. Depending on what partnership MLS develops with USL/NASL, he could be out on loan all of next season.

That is one of the options Klein hints at when discussing his trial with AEG's Swedish club Hammarby earlier this year:

I think we're going to start seeing more and more loans of home grown/young players to lower leagues/other teams in the area. Until we get a more competitive and complete reserve system or other opportunities to truly test the young players out, it makes a ton of sense.

I guarantee he was more ready for those RB duties than Jimenez was. That was my point. I hope he does get some pro experience next season, even if it's for another team on loan.

The only problem with this strategy is that you can't control their playing time. You're at the mercy of the team you've loaned them to, to develop them.

I recently read that Bruce is really fond of Sean playing RM/RW even though he hasn't been good at all at that position.
I really hope the Sorto signing doesn't make Bruce feel that he should experiment more and put Franklin in the midfield again...

A Keane/Fabiano partnership would destroy this league. I said earlier if the DC United link was even possible we should be all over that.

If Beckham and Donovan leave and we replace them with Fabiano and Kaka that would be massive.

It would be almost as unfair as deploying the nuke of Becks and LD upon our rivals for the last 6 years. :D
