I'd be interested in what people think if they take another look at that one. To me it looks like the Georgetown defender's arm was outstretched and kept the scorer on.

Memo to Georgetown: don't stop attacking!

Georgetown has dominated the half. Maryland is lucky to be down only 1.

Maryland might want to send out their Real 1st team for 2nd half. Tman can't be feel in it right now...

Cirovski: "I'm surprised we had heavy legs."

Maybe if your team had any experience traveling on decent road trips, they might've been more ready?

Maryland's defense has been suspect most of the season. I posted as much on the Terps thread and many of their supporters seemed to brush it off, thinking it would either come together when it counted or their attack would compensate.

But, it's being exposed today and their offense will be hard-tested to overcome it.

Other than the Wake game they lost, did any of their opponents force them to defend?

As poor as their central defense has been, the team defending has been the bigger problem. On the first goal, the crosser had all the time he wanted, and on the second nobody pushed out to Neumann at the edge of the box. (Boy, what a finish that was, though. Plenty of quality on all three goals.)

The announcers keep making a big deal about how Georgetown has no Final Four experience, yada yada because this is the program's first trip to the College Cup.

But Maryland hasn't been here in four years so it's not like the Terps have any Final Four experience, either.

Heck, the only program that has an experience advantage in the Final Four is Creighton, since they were there a year ago, especially since the Cup is in the same place and the know the routine and the restaurants and the hotels and stadium, etc..., not to mention the FF pressure.

Can an arm keep someone onside. Just read FIFA's laws of the game and they have all the examples with stagnant upright arms to one's side which we all know the human in motion doesn't always end up that way.

BWI to Birmingham isn't the most significant of flights. Not much different than flying to Boston or going to Clemson.

Plus, all these kids have been traveling for soccer games most of their lives so this kind of travel should be old hat for the kids.

I'm not sure why Maryland is flat, but lack of travel by the Terps as a team isn't the reason why.

Some of these college coaches really don't interview well, you know.

I think the commentators are handed a list of bullet points beforehand by the NCAA to mention.
Sometimes things don't go to script though.

Terrible mistake by Cardona and it's 3-1.

    I think this is game-over.

I'm hoping for a Hoyas- Bluejays final myself.

No reason to search for a problem with Maryland. Georgetown is just out-working and out-playing them at every turn. Credit to the Hoyas, IMO.

Needs to be acknowledged, Weise has put together a very good game plan and instilled confidence in his team, regardless of final result.

Maybe he'll make a big leap forward in the next two years, but I don't see Cardona having much of a future in MLS.

Brandon Allen, on the other hand, I think could be a star in MLS within a season or two. I've said this before, but with his size and power and nose for the goal, he reminds me a lot of Conor Casey and I think he'll be that good a pro.

Maryland must have eaten at Popeyes chicken for lunch. They're moving like it's early preseason.

True, although I think the larger argument is that certain conferences and certain teams tend to dominate "niche" sports. You'd find similar (but lower) percentages if you added up the men's hockey championships won in the last 20, 30 or 40 years by Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and the two Boston universities.

Anyway, I haven't been convinced by hararea's argument about the ACC being overseeded, but, wow, Georgetown (even as #3 seed) is taking it to Maryland. Honestly, it could be 4-1 or 5-1.

Sounds similar to the IU-Akron game 2 years ago when IU gave up the second Akron goal on a poor backpass - Akron went on to win 2-1

For all of the talk about their depth, it looks like Maryland has significantly shortened the bench.
