The following are the list of players who have won continental titles in Europe and South America:

With David Beckham now gone, who will be the first MLS player(s) to win continental titles on multiple continents?

For a start, based on the below list, we may be able to identify players that have won respective continental titles, before moving to MLS: ;)

If Kaka is indeed moving to L.A. next season as rumored, then there might be a chance.
(Essentially, any UCL-winning DPs moving to any of the CCL-bound clubs (L.A., Houston, S.J., K.C., Seattle or the next Canadian Champions) next season are in the run to be the first...)

Marco Etcheverry won a multi-continental title. True story.

Well, if Copa Interamericana was counted alongside COCACAF Champions Cup / League, then Marco was indeed among the firsts (together with his D.C. United team)!!

Though I'm more looking at the official continental titles, which earn qualifications to FIFA Club World Cup (or Intercontinental Cup):

I think Hugo Sanchez may have won CONCANCAF in Mexico and UEFA with Real Madrid.

Yes, he won 2 CONCACAF Champions Cups & a UEFA Cup (predecessor of the current 2nd-tier Europa League):

OK, thanks for that. Close but no cigar on Hugo.

What, if any, current or former MLS players have won Copa Libertadores before or after playing in MLS?

Yes, if 2nd-tier competitions are included, there could be more qualifying players.

There could be some from the list of past/present DPs:

It should be noted that among current MLS players, Danny Califf, Kevin Hartman, Matt Reis and Pete Vagenas won a CONCACAF title with the Galaxy.

Any active players with the D.C. Team that won the '98 CONCACAF Cup?

    No.

I think Carey Talley was the last player from that team to quit playing.

Good point, though the chances of them winning another (be it CONCACAF or other continents) are pretty slim now.

The situation: it's easier for aging players from other continents (with continental titles) to move to CONCACAF leagues and win CCL, rather than vice-versa.
