We'll see with Donovan, Gonzo, Magee and Juninho possibly gone and Beckham definitely gone that would be some feat to be in the playoffs next year.
Almost the opposite of Jordan in terms of having ability but not being able to apply it as well as he might. If the guy could substantially reduce the mental lapses, he'd be very solid. However, based on his playing history, that's unfortunately a very big, very unlikely "if".
I also noticed on stage, after the game, he was the fifth one to lift the cup after our DP's and Juninho. I don't remember seeing him play in that game or even in the playoffs. Even Jimenez had a right to left that Cup before David Lopes did. It'll probably be his last and only time to left a Cup in his career.
Bruce is also one of the best drafters in MLS. We have picks 19, 24, and 38 in the SuperDraft. Not saying we'll get any starters, but I'd expect at least 2 of those picks to turn into solid role players. We did pretty well in the Supplemental Draft last year too. I also imagine Oscar Sorto's signing will be official fairly soon now that roster space has cleared.
If I am Bruce, I am thinking about trading up to get a CB in the draft sooner rather than later. Because as much as Meyer came on, I don't think a Meyer/AJDG pairing works very well.
Always liked Kyle's game when he was at UCLA but his decision-making seems a bit slow in MLS to play in the middle of the field and his average (or slightly below) pace makes him not particularly effective on the wings. BTW, I'm not Bruce, merely a sock-puppet.
Just realized that everyone was at the Cup Celebration last night except Christian Wilhelmsson and Keeper Coach Ian Feur. I wonder if that means anything whatsoever....
I read something somewhere that noted Chippen's absence and speculated that it was contract-related (he was unhappy with the way the Galaxy was trying to renegotiate)... but I can't track down a link right now, and it seemed highly speculative.
According to the Galaxy insider, there is nothing to see here. Both had good excuses: http://www.lagalaxy.com/news/2012/12/galaxy-fans-rejoice-during-mls-cup-championship-celebration
Well I'm sold on kaka now....simply brilliant for real against ajax...seeing him in a galaxy shirt next season would be surreal.
You expect me to believe he flew home to see her, instead of staying here for a chance to get flashed by Omar again? Seems unlikely. http://www.playerwives.com/soccer/christian-wilhelmssons-wife-oksana-andersson/
Too slow for the wings, not talented enough to be a top player at AM. Nice guy, but I always wondered why we picked him up.
I still think we get another year out of Gonzo, so it might be worth it to see if Leonardo can stay healthy. Apparently there is a lot of CB talent at the top of the draft, but I don't know how we work the deal. Trade Buddle? I think we should trade him anyway if we can pick up Zardes (and I'm an optimist; I think Landon stays)
Did you guys see the wonderful goal our future player Kaka scored today against Ajax? No doubt he still has it!
Yeah, I don't think there is anyone here who wouldn't want Kaka on our team. It's more a question of would he ever even consider such a move until after the World Cup is over... Perhaps the key is a deal that structures two Jan-June loans in it for the first two years of the deal, to keep him training in Europe through the world cup. Then 2 more years exclusively as a Galaxy player... Don't know if that works for us or him, but could be a way to get him here now.
Warning! Goal.com article quoted below. Kaka has reiterated his desire to stay at Real Madrid for the foreseeable future, and has insisted that there is no truth in the rumors linking him with Major League Soccer: http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/69/transfer-zone/2012/12/05/3580253/kaka-laughs-off-la-galaxy-rumors "There's nothing going on with LA Galaxy or the MLS at the moment. We'll see what Real Madrid have in mind," Kaka was quoted as saying AS. "I hope to know the club's (RM) decision and its position shortly. In the summer we will find a solution. I will continue to train and do what I do." Per this article, looks like if it were to happen, it would be the summer. I'm not big on waiting on the summer to sign someone, but I guess if it were Kaka it would be worth it. Like someone else posted earlier on, it is much easier to incorporate an attacker into a team midseason than a defender. Is there any truth that we are required to have 3 DPs per our TWC contract? If so, I wonder if it allows us wiggle room so that we could have a 3rd DP show up midseason.
I don't think it's a requirement, I think we've committed to TWC that we would have the best players possible at all times. I think there is definitely wiggle room to make sure we have space to get the best players when they are available.
