Gooch and undefeated Malaga takes on Sacha Kljestan's Anderlecht squad today in CL. A win or draw for Anderlecht could slot them ahead of Zenit for a Europa league spot - meanwhile Malaga has secured the first place spot in the group regardless.

Malaga: Kameni, S.Sánchez, Welington, Onyewu, Eliseu, Toulalan, Iturra, Duda, Buonanotte, Seba Fernández, Santa Cruz

Anderlecht: Proto; Gillet, Kouyaté, Deschacht, Safari; Bruno, Biglia, Kljestan, Jovanovic; Praet, Mbokani.

Onyewu dribbles past a defender down the right after salvaging a corner kick and sends in a good low cross that Wellington skies over the crossbar from point blank range.

Toulalan goes out injured for Malaga. That's a big loss according to the commentators.

Anderlecht have sent in a couple good crosses so far but Malaga's keeper has come up with two big saves. Not sure if Onyewu was responsible on either of those -- looked like he might have lost his man on one but I wasn't paying close attention.

Kljestan put his arm on Buonanotte who goes down. Since Sacha's stache makes him look like a serial killer, he's called for the foul. The FK is right into the wall.

Stacha gets a yellow for fouling Buonanotte again, right after he lost the ball

Safari scores a goal but it's called back for no reason. Malaga go down the other end and Duda puts in a great goal. 1-0 Malaga

The assist on Malaga's goal went right by Sasha; he was a spectator. He is definitely having trouble w/ Buonanatte. He has been pretty good with his passing, however.

I think they were all spectators, they were shocked by the weird offside call. Of course you can't switch off like that

Gooch loses the ball. Not sure why he was dribbling up the flank

Goal Jovanovic. Great counter and the pass to Mbokani is pretty good, his shot is saved but Jovanovic sprints to it and dinks it over the keeper.

It was Gooch with the block/tackle of Mbokani (his former Standard teammate) that went to Jovanovic.

Gooch didn/t play well on Anderlect's goal. He dove in, then, when he missed the ball, he got up slowly and watched.

Anderlecht living dangerously with some borderline fouls in the box that weren't called

I thought GOOCH did ok in the slide tackle he was unfortunate that it ricochet to the opponent coming down the left wing.

It didn't ricochet. The player retained possession and passed it to the goalscorer.

Yes, that assist was excellent - right pace, angle, immediacy from Sasha's reception of the ball.

Decent games for both Yanks. Looks like Onyewu has gained some match fitness back, but still has progress to make, both physically and mentally.
