Hopefully in the mean time they have a team naming contest and a press conference that the name is going to stay the same. Or that they can't compete in the first half since they can only afford their coach for half a season.
found this on www.thisiscosmoscountry.com ''Some wondered why the Cosmos didn’t simply start the season as a grassroots side. If they can’t get proper jerseys made in time, which was one of the excuses cited (and debated), then why not wear the Umbro Cosmos jerseys, or have a local company like FOSA make something for them in the short-term?''
To be clear, I was wondering about this part of the quote, not the 'lame' jersey excuse. "Some wondered why the Cosmos didn’t simply start the season as a grassroots side."
maybe for the same reason, not enough time to get jerseys for the U10 and U12 the Cosmos are becoming the laughing stock of US soccer, no jerseys, no ticket provider, no apertura, only clausura with leftover players, ...
found something from last summer, after a FC New York - Red Bull game ''When the game was completed, FC New York did not have any water, drinks or food for the visitors, again, as required by the league. But a FC New York representative said for the Red Bulls to take a cooler with drinks. It was discovered to be filled with beer, which was not appropriate and illegal for many players who were underage''
I was thinking more along the lines of FCNY when they first started play in USL Pro, not what they've devolved to in the last year or so in NPSL so that even that league can't stand them (they were suspended weren't they?)
Cesar Diaz is a freelance writer for several online soccer publications, this is what he has to say ''While I appreciate Erik’s honesty about the front office situation and that it’ll take nine months for any kit manufacturer to produce jerseys for sale, blah, blah, blah… the whole situation is simply appalling. All the free beer in the world isn’t going to compensate the fact that come late March or early April, the Cosmos will be a NASL team not competing. Until a team is fielded, please don’t talk to me about kits or any other form of Cosmos merchandise. Please don’t talk to me about any TV deals because at this point, it’s all fluff and imaginary.''
no idea if they were suspended, but serving beer to underaged kids, how low can you go ? I hope at least the Cosmos will never reach that level
Starting to sound like the Cosmos won't get the chance to reach that level. I'm starting to wonder if they'll ever play a game.

I think Shep Messing found a box of old jerseys from the early 70s where players wore different jerseys based on what position they played.
Still baffles me that they're using jerseys as an excuse. A softball team can get jerseys made for them and their fans in under a week. I expect a professional organization to be able to do so for them in their fans in the 9 months time the Cosmos would have had before opening day 2012 of the new Clausura.
Seriously. I have beautiful photos of the 2006 MetroStars jerseys that were unveiled in a pageant before the 2006 MLS SuperDraft in January, 2006. Within a month the team was sold and renamed and the New York Red Bulls took the field wearing newly designed and sourced jerseys. Likewise, the 2005 move from San Jose to Houston of the Earthquakes, followed by the later 1836/Dynamo kerfuffle didn't stop the team from taking the field in 06 in Dynamo gear.
The reason Cosmos were supposed to enter in 2013 was because what if MN Stars didn’t find a owner? The league would’nt get sanctioned. unless Cosmos entered in 2013. Saving face of the league and probably the season. The Cosmos will be at a disadvantage anyway because they will not have played the first half of season and the team wouldn’t have that time to play together.
If you honestly believe that the NASL would've lost it's sanction because the Cosmos don't play in 2013, you're more naive than I thought.
