Oh you beat me to it . I got to see him some in person in Dallas. I always liked him, he's got good hustle. Then again, that was several years ago. I wouldn't say its a bad move, but we'll see. I bet he didn't cost much and he's got good potential to turn out well... or bad.
So yet again we give up international slot in trade. Not sure how we can bring in a DP when we might not have any slots left (have they resolved our 2 previous International slot trades and when they come back to us?)
his salary is a lil on the high side at around 170k ... but decent pick up... has been oft injured as of late
The international slot is for 2015 and 2016. Whitecaps already have the rights to that international slot for 2013/2014 so we are only losing slot for 2015/2016. Maybe Bravo likes the Rapids Thug Life mantra? http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/04/03/atiba-harris-shown-yellow-elbow
lol i suggseted on getting harris last year than someone stated he tore his acl. now his a rapid. i honestly think bravo and op read my post's as i make the most sense from a playing view. you guys got contracts and statistic's but i see past number's if healthy he will be our striker up top and that might be a good thing him and omar can switch from rw to st ALLOOOOOT. i like this move. since its only a international spot that's fine. 2015-2016 is long time away to acquire more let alone develop some rookies we get this year. omg i'm stoked. i know you hate guy's who play fifa. but this guy was amazing in my all bronze squad with kanjdi at center forward lol. Send harris to city for the offseason so he can train with micah richards as they are cousins.
Ok, How exactly does he make this team better? He is expensive, has scored a grand total of 17 goals in 138 appearances. Not sure how this guy fits into our FO professed "Style of play" vision.
Some fun things about soccer. It makes you ask questions like "What do you call a person from St. Kitts and Nevis?" Turns out it is Kittitian or Kittian or Nevisian or Kitti-Nevi. Since he is from St. Kitts, he is Kittitian. You can all thank soccer when this comes up in a trivia game some day.
vancouver played him more as a winger roll. he needs to be the striker. this can be his break out year. we just added some pace and alot of strength to the team...... 170 k is alot but nothing compaired to the 400 k we could have on casey. saved 270 k can aqurire another striker who can also play left wing. oh man kanjdi----harris---omar ----------riverio------ -----thomas--jeff----- a guy can dream lol
So we pick up a guy with just as thuggish a rep as Casey but a quarter of his production and coming off a major injury AND we might also be dumping Wynne? Conspiracy Theory: Braveja is actually one person... who happens to be Clavijo in disguise.
This move, along with the risk we're taking with Wynne, is a good example of why I was OK keeping Pareja. Bravo has ultimate control over the roster makeup so he's the one making these decisions. I'd rather keep the coaching continuity than have Bravo go out and find a new coach. If we flame out next year it should be enough to can both Bravo and Pareja and we can search for a coach with hopefully somebody that will have a better track record.
As a backup central striker, Cam Weaver would've been cheaper and better. In addition to his innumerable high elbows, Atiba is especially adept at the "Achilles scrape", where he pretends to go up for a ball and rakes his studs down the back of a player's leg all the way to the heel. Good luck.
I'm not a fan of Atiba - but to his credit, he is a grinder, and we do need grinders if we want to win in this league. That will likely be the first and last nice thing I ever say about Atiba.
