On being the first American to win the Liga MX as a locked in starter week in week out barring injury because of your quality.

Funny thing is I don't watch much Mex Liga but Tijuana is sponsored by Tecate but the other team was sponsored by Corona. It took me a minute to figure out Corona was just a sponsor.

He's started more games than he appeared to be a sub in. Whether Leandro is the starter or not, it appears Joe was a locked in starter this year.

Castillo played well from the back and had nice through balls on counters.
Klinsi shoulld talk to Antonio Mohamed about tactics, game planning and how best to utilize Castillo and Corona's skills.

Leandro, Arce, Ruiz and Enriquez are Mohammed's starters in the midfield but with Leandro out due to injury Enriquez sat in favor of Corona due to Joe's sacrifice on the defensive side.

Joe hasn't been a "locked in starter" for months now.

With that said, Joe is usually the first or second player off the bench when he doesn't start.

In case people don't know who those guys are it's Castillo, Corono, Garza, Guido, and Stevie Rodriguez.

Don't know who the 6th guy is. Bryan de la Fuente is also at the club, but I don't know what he looks like.

I feel the best for Edgar Castillo, who's had kind of a vagabond existence in football (both club and international). It seems like he's found his "spot" and is excelling now. I was pretty impressed with him last night. He has one hell of a motor.

JK may want to look at him as a left mid.

Agreed. He is plying his trade and looks very very dangerous going forward.
defends better and better as well.

He is improving his game. Does anyone think he could move to a higher league?

Corona hasn't been a starter every game this season (or last) but he's started several games and usually comes off the bench when he doesn't start.

Joe lost his starting spot to Enriquez when Mohammed took over and is generally deemed to have had average season(s) since his breakout tourney where he was named rookie of the year.

What about Jose Francisco Torres with Pachuca.

Herculez Gomez won the league with Santos. I don't know if you'd call him a "lock starter," but he was an important player for them.

And in case people have forgotten, this is actually Castillo's second title. He won a title with Santos in 2008, and I think he was a starter then as well.

Then of course, we need to remember that Tab Ramos won the Mexico Cup with Tigres in 1996. I could be wrong, but I think that's the first piece of silverware won by a USMNT player in Mexico.

Having an American on a title-winning team in Mexico isn't a unique thing anymore....................and as the years go by I think a wave of Mexican-American players will continue to go there. If you look at the number of Mexico-based kids getting callups to the US U20's, it's a pretty good number.
