If the vikings only had a qb. ponder did not complete a single pass to a wrs and also threw 2 ints in the redzone. Ap had 210 yards rushing and the defense played pretty good but it is not enough in a qb driven league. Vikings got jipped out of an Int due to a roughing the passer which was ludicrous but all credit to Aaron Rodgers he is carrying Gb. Speaking of great qbs Peyton Manning looked lights out against Tampa and Denver will be dangerous if they get the lead due to there pass rush in the playoffs.

All you hear about on ESPN is Luck and RG3 but the best rookie QB plays in the Pacific Northwest. Wilson was clutch together the lead late and then drove 80 yards for the win in OT. Does ESPN know there is a team in Seattle?

Arguments can be made for a lot of guys. There is no clear-cut ROY.

Espn was hyping Seattle up before the season like crazy and maybe I notice more because I am a huge Pete Carrol fan but who knows. And plz Luck and Rg3 are a huge step above Russel Wilson don't let your emotions get the better of you.

No he is right, it was Duerson who shot himself in the chest with the note - I remember that he was an 80s player. I think Seau might have done the same since his family put his brain up for autopsy (great thing of them to do imo), but Duerson made sure ahead of time

    ---

I have to agree that RGIII and Luck are good ahead of Wilson in terms of what they could be further in their careers, but this season Wilson has about kept pace with them - though probably a half-step behind. In terms of where they went, his relative value has been much, much higher as he has been smart, efficient, and has even shown the ability to put the game on his back - he was phenomenal in that last drive yesterday, and over the fourth quarter/OT in general. I really did like Matt Flynn at GB so I had a bit of a grudge against him coming into the season, but that is long gone - I love the guy, especially since I've always been a fan of the undersized (Brees)/physically challenged (Pennington)/unexpected (Orton) QBs who make it in the NFL despite their shortcomings. That said, I do think it is very apparent that while Luck & RGIII have it in them to be the next Manning/Brady or whatnot over the next 15-odd years, that Wilson can have a very long career at the level of a Pennington/Schaub/Jeff Garcia - a pro-bowl level QB who not only isn't a hindrance to his team's chances of success but actually is an asset to them, and who in his best 2-3 seasons could have it in him to flirt with elite/all-pro/MAYBE-MVP-runner levels of play. Love the guy.

    ---

Dropping Alex Smith... big mistake. I thought it was odd at the time also, all things considered. Going back to him now will not only rattle the team (and Kaepernick if Smith gets injured or plays poorly due to lost confidence), but Smith himself may not be the same either. Not that he was a superstar before, but he was very efficient and fit the team well in the short term. Harbaugh has done an incredible job at SF (the best turnaround I have ever seen, been watching the NFL 10-odd years so not too long, mind) but I just don't get that move. Maybe he wanted unpredictability for the run-in/playoffs, but it has boomeranged and unpredictability is what he has got. Really should have stuck with Smith imo for stability and experience, kept his stock high and traded him for a 2-4th round pick in the offseason. THEN, by all means, bring up Kaepernick with an experienced backup like Orton (incredibly underrated imo, I bet KC wish they kept him last year now) or someone there, just in case.

    ---

Megatron is on pace to break Jerry Rice's receiving record, which is phenomenal... and he, along with Marshall, Welker and Witten are ALL on pace for ~120 receptions, which is silly... Aldon Smith has 4 games in which 5 sacks will tie and 5.5 will break Strahan's sack record... JJ Watt is now up to 15.5 sacks as a 3-4 end (makes. no. sense.)... and Andrew Luck with that incredible comeback became the first rookie QB to win 8 games in his first season (or at least of those taken at #1), his stats mightn't be other-worldly like Wilson or RGIII (my pick for ROY) but he has shown everything you could possibly want at the position and that he has that 'X' factor of just knowing how to win.

It's been a great season for the individual.

We asked Bryce Brown to help us move out of our house, but he kept fumbling everything, so we sent him home.

Also, ROY talk and no mention of Trent Richardson? That dude's been a beast, and he's got a tremendous future ahead of him. I know that Luck gets a lot of praise (and deservedly so), but the Colts also have good receivers and still have a good running game. It's not like he's playing for the Jaguars.

Really looking forward to that mouth-watering Green Bay/Chicago game in 2 weeks. Man, that's going to be a fantastic game.

While that is true, he's been basically carrying that offense. Weeden sucks, and the Browns have no receivers.

Also, 70-31?? Ouch, baby. Very ouch, indeed.

Matt Ryan is practicing his Rodney Dangerfield voice. :(

Joe Flacco, Dan Marino and Joe Ferguson also won 8 as rookies, just off the top of my
    head.

In fact Flacco and Ryan have never won less than 8.

Luck is the first quarterback taken #1 overall to win 8 games. That's the significance of his accomplishment. Most teams who finish with the worst record in the league don't usually win 8 games the next season.

 He didn't ask his athletes to remain with the program thru probation and then leave without saying anything to them until he got to his new spot (Franchione, 2002). He didn't get caught in a fleabag hotel with a skank before he could coach a single game (Price, spring 2003). He didn't rename an award given to the program's hardest-working athlete because the man the award was named for --Sylvester Croom-- was a better coach than he is (Shula, 2004). He's done nothing to make you imply that he lacks class.

Dude, you've been watching this game long enough to know that a coach is going to leave when boosters or potential future agents do things that the NCAA thinks are wrong and the program is forced to serve penance for offending the NCAA's sensibilities. He's going to leave when the game's highest level calls with a $7 Million/year offer. The difference is that Dennis Franchione asked his athletes to stay and then left in the dead of night like a thief for another developmental program (after destroying Andrew Zow's chances of doing anything important in the game), while Pete Carroll didn't ask his students to stay, but stood in Los Angeles like a man while announcing that he was leaving for the NFL.

Though the Colts were not your ordinary 'crappy' team to finish with the worst record. True Peyton Manning covered a lot of ugly spots and they were probably never as good as their record indicated (and the guy who replaced Dungy wasn't anything great). Not taking anything away from the current staff, but there was a base talent there.

This seems similar to when the Celtics turned to crap after the Cowens/Havlichek era and then were lucky enough to be bad the year that Larry Bird was eligible to be drafted.

I said the same thing with regards to him winning ROY. I think he's a tremendous quarterback, but I think there are more deserving players in the NFL this year. Wilson is definitely up there, but he also Marshawn Lynch and a pretty good defense in Seattle. I seriously think Richardson should be ROY only because he has no supporting cast in Cleveland.

Richardson would need to run for 2,000 yards to top RGIII or Luck. The hype around both, plus winning will trump anything that he does.

I understand that. I'm still not sold on RG3. He's having a good year, but so did Cam Newton last year, and look how that turned out. I just don't buy this whole "athletic quarterback" shtick. Once the defenses figure you out, you have to rely on your arm, and I don't think Griffin is a good passer. I think he's going to suffer the same fate as all running quarterbacks over the last 10 years: Good start, but exposed when having to rely on passing.

Then you fail to see the obvious differences between Cam and RGIII. How is Griffin not a good passer? He's currently one of the most accurate QBs in the league. And he's not like Alex Smith who doesn't throw the deep ball. If anything, RGIII is most deadly with the deep ball. He has shown on numerous occasions this year that he's a pass first QB. Remember the first Giants game? He converted on a 4th down play and dodging the pursuit. He had the option to run for the first, but he chose to pass. Also, RGIII was a MUCH better passer than Cam Newton was in college.

I have always felt bad for Adrian Peterson, except when you guys had Favre and he was amazing. The only other player in the league I feel worse for more is Larry Fitzgerald. Their greatness is being held back by awful QBs.

Russell Wilson does deserve a lot of credit. However, I also do believe Luck and RGIII deserve the attention they are getting. They were hyped coming into the draft and have thus far lived up to their HIGH expectations.

Let's also remember that Russell Wilson probably has the best supporting cast out of the three teams. Luck and RGIII don't have a great defense like Seattle's to keep them in ball games.

RG3 has those numbers now because he evades the defense for so long, but he also doesn't always make smart plays. When you run around trying to evade defenders only to make a 2 yard pass, what have you really done? I've seen this story before, and I really don't think he'll be as effective next year as he is this year. I'm not saying he's shit. He's definitely got some talent, but I see him make plays with his feet that allow him to use his arm. Eventually, you won't be able to do that anymore, and you have to rely on your arm, and I seriously don't believe he has a good arm.
