Same, but he was never on the right team. His finest moment, imo:

He wasn't a good guy yelling at Kandji thereafter, I'll add, but I've been there, I understand.

Dax McCarty; another player I'd like to see in a Rapids jersey some day. Dude's got an engine that doesn't stop.

That would be interesting, residential development just east of the soccer fields:

More like just South, just East looks like it will still be some Wildlife Refuge before the housing starts.

You think that all those houses would help our attendance numbers, they could stroll over for games.

It sure looks like they have residential (yellow) just of east the soccer fields, and just south of where Prairie Parkway would extend to the east. 64th extended as in the Post's map would be well north of Prairie Pkwy as the Pkwy goes past the stadium, and they have the residential area starting about a 1/3 or 2/5 of the way down from 64th towards 56th.

Putting the wrap on another season with (unfortunately) the Galaxy winning again, I got to thinking about Beckham as his career in MLS is now over (as a player at least). For certain, he was a polarizing figure in the league from day 1; love him or hate him though, I think most people can agree that his impact on MLS was hugely positive. Say what you want about his image and his surrounding cult-of-personality, but his coming here raised the profile of the league and made it "ok" for other big name players to come here. Without Beckham, IMO, you have not only no Henry or Keane, but also not nearly the same level of expansion, soccer specific stadia or merchandise licensing. There has been a lot of criticism about "washed up, old" players coming here to retire as a result of Beckham. There may be some substance to that, but having these big name legends on rosters here attracts young promising talent too. We are just starting to see the beginnings of that.

Beckham is far from a favorite of mine; in fact most of the time I've found him to be pretty (incredibly) annoying. However, all in all I'd say every MLS fan owes him a debt of gratitude for what he's done for the league both directly and indirectly.

It was an enjoyable MLS Cup Final and having it at one of the participating team's home grounds was a good call. There was great energy and the crowd sounded amazing. As for Beckham, he has to be counted as a positive for MLS both on and off the field. He raised the league's profile and, while certainly slower, delivered on the pitch in his later years. His vision, passing and set peices are still things of beauty. My bet is that he'll go to China or Austrailia to further brand Beckham and then return to be a player/owner for the new NY Cosmos when they move into MLS.

Really? I didn't think the crowd was all that impressive, especially given the importance of the match.

It looks like Victory Crossing finally updated their development map. This is the same site plan that appeared in the Denver Real Estate Journal 3 or 4 months back that most people couldn't get access to:

What exactly is a "sports destination?"

No housing in the development plan (and the people who live nearest now will still have to go out of their way to cross Quebec St on foot), tons of surface parking, very low density, 3 hotels within 2500 feet of each other, and worst of all, it appears like there's just one new road to get out of the stadium (central park blvd.) and the rest are convoluted side streets off Valentia. I'm sorry but that is not a very good master plan.

Probably the Dick's Sporting Goods location that was part of the naming rights deal.

They sounded good to me, the chanting was constant and loud. Unsure if that was just a mike directed at the supporter's groups. I have a friend that went to the match, I'll get his perspective.

I'm hoping the sports destinations are restaraunts and bars within easy walking distance. I like the set up the Patriots/Revs have (http://www.patriot-place.com).

People were complaining about this on the N&A game thread. I wonder how much of the perception has to do with the way the broadcast is produced (mic position, volume levels, etc.)? NBC seems to mic the supporters groups and then raise the volume in the mix.

Otherwise, how many stadiums are going to be much better than last night's by soccer standards? Portland, Seattle, and ? The Galaxy have supporters groups, and it's hard to imagine they just didn't show up yesterday, or were as silent as the broadcast would suggest.

Edit: ha, I should have read further in the thread. Never mind me, I don't care about the crowd noise and generally tune it out so I'm probably way off. Though I do notice the NBCSN mix because it sounds artificial compared to other sports broadcasts.

I thought they said 30k plus fans, so it has to be production keeping noise down, this is not Japan where they can put 50,000 fans in stadium and still hear crickets.
